Hey everybody, a few months ago I pre-ordered the D3 Collector's Edition at my local Game Stop. I know that people who buy the game online will be able to do a digital download ahead of time (any time between now and release) so that when the game comes out all they have to do is download the small launch-day patch and begin playing.
Is there any way for me (who bought my game in-store) to pre-download all the data so I can do the same as the digital download people? If so, how? Thanks!
You can certainly download the installer, but you can't use any of it until you have a key on your Battlenet account and until the files are decrypted on release day.

All I want to do is install Diablo 3 now, so that after I race home from the midnight release (hopefully lol) I can punch in my key and download the launch-day patch. I have to beat my friends to max level. Sorta a competitive thing we have between us. I've won every time, as far as WoW has gone, and now I have to win in Diablo 3 too!
SC2 dvd came with same files you get from predownload so
The D3 Cd will come with MPQE files just like SC2 did so no difference...
Bah, I just wanted the leg up, but it looks like my attempts were in vain....
If its anything like with WoW releases, unless you're in the GMT - 8:00 timezone (If I'm not mistaken that's the timezone Blizz works around for north america at least), midnight release will mean you have 1 or more hours to pre-install anyway. I'm in eastern timezone (GMT - 5:00) so I had to wait until 3AM to get onto Cata, but was able to install it once I got home, just after midnight.

Wouldn't it save me like 15-30 minutes (approx.) of installation time?
Haha thanks, I just wasn't sure if it was possible, nor how to word a short question to Google it.

I'm confused, what do you mean?
Understood.
"The fire from the sky still falls. Diablo III has not launched yet."
I wonder if this ended up saving me any time....
