I reserved my copy of Diablo 3 from my local gamestop. Since the servers will be up at 12:00PM and it takes time to drive home ... in my case thirty minutes. Wouldn't that put people who buy it at store at a disadvantage?.

Really? 30 minutes? You're not at a disadvantage...
I get to play hours and hours before you guys even start. That gives me precious time to out level you, though I was going to do that anyways. Then I will get 60 before you, then ill be in inferno before you, and then I will sell those inferno items to you for 100's of dollars and I will be rich!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not really.
Though, If it works like the other blizzard games, then it doesn't need to write anything to the registry. Thus, you can simply copy the directory over onto a storage disk, and then back if you ever reload your computer. By far the fastest way to 'install' the game, thus making the discs worthless anyways.
So as far as I am concerned, I win every way with digital version. Sure I don't get a cardboard box, but I am not that crazy about cardboard personally.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
My local stores don't sell at midnight (prohibited by law, go figure) and only start at 8 AM. Play for 5-7 hours then go stand in line for the CE. Thankfully I have the Annual pass. How long I get to play really depends on the weather. The last CE i got was during a blizzard and me and my buds were the only ones crazy enough to go get the early.
LoL, my copy could arrive may 22nd (if not later), go figure.
I'm not in a rush, I've waited a long time and hopefully will play for a long time.
I'll play every class, I'll explore every corner, I'll turn any corpse, slay any monster who dare cross my way and...be slayed .
SP to begin with and MP later...oh my gosh....I'm drooling all over the keyboard!
If the launch is anything like Cataclysm launch, you can expect the first 2-3 hrs to be laggy buggy hell and login servers being overcooked. Also, the release date says 15.5 , which time zone?!

Cataclysm launch was excellent. My realm was lagging for exactly 5 minutes, after which the entire experience was perfectly fine.
Hopefully it goes like the Cataclysm launch.
Blizzard kind of answered this by saying; The time it takes to install D3 from the discs is ~ = to the time it takes to change the pre download encrypted data so you can play. So yes a digital pre download will have a slight advantage, but shouldn't be too much.
@ OP if D3 follows the blizzard model Aus will have to wait for the following night before we can have a midnight release (because Australia cant have it before AMerica imagin all teh QQing on the forums!) Even in WoW East coast USA gets it first then it goes around the world in a westward driection from there. Im hoping its a global release which means I can get it after work but see what happens. Unless your going for world first lvl 60 who cares and even if you are who cares. Give it a week after you get the all important worlds first 60, nobody is gunna care.
The weekend of release date ive got a lan and pissup and D3 will be the focal point of it.
