Am I the only one who thinks the Release date has been delayed because of the game items??The item system still seems the most incomplete feature in the game, the website reflects this also.
Some random extra stuff I remember hearing (not exact quotes):
Items are the last thing they work on in the game
Website has most features up if not all except items
allot of negative feed back from the previous legendary items
items on the website are temporary
Anyone know how far the items are along with the game?
Anyone know how far the items are along with the game?
No, how could we know? Unless some of us work at Blizzard, we have no idea. I don't think items are the problem. I most definitely think it's the runestone system that's taking so long.
I don't think it's anything as specific as a certain system that is the only that is holding them back, sure some may be more of a reason than others (runestone system for example) but I think it's a combination of things, including RMAH and that whole situation.
I agree. I am not sure, but it looks like the number of D3 items displayed at D3 beta forum much smaller than that of D2. So I guess they are probably working on items.
well they have definetly added items since they first showed the items page on the d3 site, and added more graphics. but no, i dont think the game is delayed because of it. major mechanics like runestones still havent been 100% finalized yet and those are top priority

(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)

Yeah I felt like there was a small amount of items on display as well...meaning allot of the items arent being displayed.
Definitely not. Items are one of the easiest things to make and balance. Considering that they have most of the models, they only need to do stats and balance them.
Yeah I think it would require allot of extra attention because of the role huge role items play in Diablo, its as important as skills and runes and look at the time put into those, do you agree?
Yeah but if they don't properly balance the items there's a chance we play through the game in a couple of days, reach inferno and it's either ridiculously easy or ridiculously impossible and imagine the flak they'll get, they really have to dance on a tightrope between the casuals who can't do much and the hardcores who want a challenge.
To be honest I'm sure incomplete items, item lore/graphics etc contribute a lot to game polishing and will for some time to come.
I agree with Verity. I'm sure that it's a number of things which add up to a game that is not quite ready to be released.
I'm pretty sure that the RMAH issue with South Korea is part of it. It may not be the sole reason but it's probably one of the main contributors. The runestones are probably being examined/polished, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're studying the runestones in conjunction with the some of the unique items. They haven't decided what to do for PVP hardcore. They're redoing some tooltips. etc etc... lots of little things.
