I have a question for the beta testers out there? I have seen a lot of posts on the bnet forums claiming the current amount of testers is not adequate for "stress testing" blizzard's servers. Since we have to actual number to back that up, I was wondering...
How often are the D3 servers up? Do you get dropped from games a lot? Is there lag that isn't caused by your system or internets?
I haven't seen any comments on how well the servers are doing and if that's the point of the beta, then I'd like to get a little info on it.
Yikes, allowing only 200 people in is a joke to beginwith, but there being only 29-55 people in on average woh, talk about useless.
You don't even need a server machine to host 200 people, so they should have a hell of a lot more then that in at a time(being a blizzard game, nevermind Diablo at that, I say if their servers can't handle atleast around 10k for the NA server, and 5k anywhere else, the servers will be completely useless).
However as I said in past posts, this Isn't a bet, and they sure as hell aren't stress testing.
I think they are still not in the stress testing phase... HMM?
That's probably it. Makes sense that they would test if people can actually log on without being DC'd, download the patcher and so forth. I think once those are ironed out then it's time to stress test. Wish they would just tell us lol
They're already "stresstesting", you have to realize that the servers are not running at the capacity to allow many more testers, as they develop their infrastructure, more people will be invited, and you will continue to stress test, until they got the information they need, at which point they may have a huge wave of invites to ensure stress testing of the final equipment.
I've only had 2 instances of lag int he last week or 2, but there does seem to be an extremely low amount of public games going average of 60 players at any given time. However I think alot more gamers are online playing solo or purely with friends so I'm sure there are many more players online at all times. I spend 90% of my time solo for example.
the new beta phase will be the facebook invites over the next 8 weeks. I doubt they'll add more than those (except for possibly the blizzcon '10 winners in conjunction)
I hate to bring it up but Blizzard has these games called WoW and SC2 so I think they understand that they will need some good servers to keep up with the population. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea perhaps, but that's besides the point, because there are always problems when opening a new live server, problems that have nothing to do with how good the server is on paper, that stress testing before hand usually catch.

I bet you're right. I wouldn't doubt that they are focusing on the background down-loader and bnet 2.0 issues at the moment. I can't see them moving into a stress test phase until the last few weeks before launch.

Quite low. Goes between 25 to 55 person in public games.
Pretty low since when the 1st wave was released it was over the 100's for almost a week.
I wouldn't say weeks, it was over 100 just 10 days ago.
