for the people who have watched a few classes in the streams from the beginning, which did you think was the strongest class that mashed through the mobs the fastest and seems like it would be the easiest class to begin with in beta?
I've only be able to see the monk and WD decently. Of the two monk seemed more powerful, looked as though the WD was using more skills to kill zombies. I'm waiting for a solid HD gameplay of all 5 classes. I bet you sixen Force and whoever else got in are doing a run through as we speak and are taping it in HD for us to see. Hopefully < that is truth

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
after watching some of the streams i have to say barb looks weak. especially in the fight with king leoric (the stream with 2 other range characters). he simply run away half of the fight, search for health globes etc rather then smash and hit and actually help the party.
i wanted to play barb first but after seeing this i doubt i will...
Who knows, maybe he just didn't have any good gear, or the player just wasn't that good. I doubt you can say that until you play it, or have massive amount of feedback.
As soon as I get home, I'll watch some DH vids for sure, but I will not turn away from it, just because it wont own like everyone else. Maybe if I play beta, and I just cant like the DH, then I'll create something else as a first char.
I think most of the time ranged classes overshine the melee ones just because they can kill their enemies early on without taking damage, while obviously melee class suffers from this, but later on, as barb will become more tankish and there will be soo much enemies, that ranged ones will spend some of their time kiting. (yes, I know with time bubble and teleport, wizzard will escape easily, but I think s/he will die even faster than DH, if a stun catches her/him)
- The Wizard seems exceptionally strong: single target and AoE
- The Barbarian is strong if he has a good weapon otherwise he is weak
- Witch Doctor seems effective too

"Traitors! Even in death, the armies of Khanduras will still obey their king!"
- The Wizard seems exceptionally strong: single target and AoE
- The Barbarian takes like forever to kill stuff (also leoric owned him hard)
...good... thats why i will play Barb. first... i like to take my time on playthrough...
... i havent seen much of the classes but from the DH that i saw so far, it looks to me that her "Hatred" meter regen too fast... she very rarely seems to go out of "power"... and she can spam the Fan of Knives too much... i dont like that much...
I saw another Barbarian stream, where he had a good weapon. This time he did alot better. Seems to really need a high damage weapon as most of his abilities scale of weapon damage it seems.

I do think you guys are jumping the gun on this one. It's 1/3 or 1/2 of act 1 normal mode, I believe it is far too early to tell how balanced or imbalanced the classes are. Blizzard has stated quite regularly that they wanted normal mode to be quite easy.

Bashiok said, that you feel that the resources are limitless, because it's early part of act 1 on Normal. Later on, it wont be the case.
I also think, that the wizzard seems overpowered, because s/he does not need a good weapon to damage with skills.
great replies guys, have yet to see the wizard, DH seems like it takes too many shots to kill stuff. Barb seems like its resource system regenerates too slow when you kill mobs.
I have watched a few streams of the various characters and IMO the Witch Doctor's AoE is ripping monsters apart! I think that will be the character I use to farm with to make the Real Money Auction House my full time job!

Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's the presence of fear yet the will to go on.
From what ive seen the beta seems kinda lowtuned and easy.
So the classes ive seen have pretty much owned everything, but i have yet to see the monk.
But ofcourse, this is probably not the final tuning of the difficulty level.
This is the beginning of act 1 on normal difficulty, did you ever have trouble with zombies and fallens in d2 xD!?

I just think the guy playing him wasn't very good; he didn't even use his skills for the first 6 or 7 levels, and used single-target skills on big groups of mobs. King Leoric did hit him pretty hard though.
Right now I'm in love with the Barbarian, even though my favorite is still the Wizard.
The Barbarian just looks like a bully, he goes around bashing people with big weapons and almost ignoring the enemies damage. Having access to Leap Strike so early makes it so fun jumping around initiating battles =]
Way too early to tell in my opinion. And for all we know, it is possible they tweaked dmg or stats to make sure people play through the act without worrying about dying. Probably not, but you never know at this stage.
From what I have seen so far, the wizard and monk seemed to be tearing through mobs the fastest. But again, were talking all classes below lvl 10, only at most an hour into the game. Not much to compare at this stage except, which classes start out with the better 2-3 skills.
then again the monk is up close and doesn't have too much health, neither does the wiz but wiz is ranged, so thats pretty uncomparable.

i do recall losing health in d2 normal. lol
