So guys any thoughts/predictions on what we might see? Last year and the year before( I went) were totally abysmal in news relating to Diablo, but... It has been said that this year we may have something to be excited about. All the news concerning the Dev team has me worried though. If they've got a D3X2 in the pipeline for around next year or the year after (Assuming an announcement at Blizzcon) then why move people off the team, and then turn around and hire new people for similar positions? Doubt D4 will be announced but the whole scheme behind moving people around and hiring new ones has me worried that maybe D3X2 isn't happening, so I don't see what could be so exciting for Diablo fans at this Blizzcon. If you were lucky enough to get tickets let us know too (I tried painfully failing).

I haven't posted in a long time on this site, mostly lurk around, but it's fun to speculateso I thought I'd give my two cents:
I think first off the second expansion is already in the final stages and will be shown at either Gamescom with more details at Blizzcon or just at Blizzcon. They are now hiring for the next game in the series to start work on that. The expansion will conclude Diablo III and leave enough open for D4 to be bridged to. I've read people theorizing another class being released between now and the expansion, then a final class for the expansion which I think would be cool and a nice way to keep us happy until the second expansion.
I think the areas will be
Skovos - already have a bridge of it being mentioned from RoS, would make sense as a starting point for the next expansion
Ureh - since this acts as a bridge between both Heaven and Hell and it can tie into putting Leah's soul to rest. Also back during the original announcement of D3 they already had cinematics for Ureh, which leads me to believe it was already fleshed out just never put in.
Personally I think Inarius and Lilith will be a part of this storyline. The Nephalem have grown way too powerful. I could even see Imperius aligning with them since he hates the Nephalem so much. I think Tyrael will also struggle with his decision in supporting the humans/nephalem or possibly succumbing to corruption himself, after all don't forget he is human now.
- They have not finished the story in RoS, it's blatantly left open doesn't even have an ending cinematic. That's not like them at all, they are too polished for that.
- Adding to that, why would they spend an entirely new game devoted to events after RoS? They've said it before this is going to be wrapping up this saga in the Diablo universe
- If they are just starting a fourth game right now, do you honestly think people are going to hold out for years on just seasonal updates? Doubtful to me.
- Money, lots of money. If the options are expansion and fourth game, why only choose fourth game? That's leaving money on the table, money they know they can get from our crazy fanbase.
Only my opinion as well no hard feelings at all. Anyways I think for sure at the very least something will come from Gamescom even if it's just a little peek at what's in store.
I'm very interested too as into why this latest upcoming patch is only minor with different numbering and why they, I think, changed the length of the season/era. Makes me speculate they are trying to line up with some internal deadline/timeline.
See my only caveat to having the expansion is they're moving people off the team but simultaneously adding new ones back? IT doesn't make sense. Why not just keep the people on the team if you're planning the next game? Why move people and get new ones? New type of game possibly? Maybe a Diablo Fighter ALA MK/SV, or maybe they're moving in another direction with the franchise but I really don't see how? They could pull the other worlds into the game but You'd still have to have that dark evil tone that Diablo is known for otherwise it just won't be a Diablo game anymore. I'm just really confused as to their whole moving people then rehiring.

Diablo is in a fair spot right now, and their next hit is Legion, so propbably they need all the help they can get till end of Aug i guess till Legion is out. Small restructuring here and there will never hurt.
ppl shouldnt RIP RoS just because some ppl left... Look at whats going on now.. each expansion contains less and less, and 2.4.1 is nearly nothing. i mean what they have added? just tunning some numbers. Which means the move resources from developing an existing game to a new planned game / major patch like 2.0 was back in the days.
And above , my first reply, i still think that discussion something isnt even announced is beyond me.
Ohh and every Blizz game going through a transition nowadays, also their business modell is effecting how they develop game. Its something we dont even know.
If there's gonna be any Diablo news, it'll be the 2nd expansion. If there is going to be a second expansion, it will include:
-New monsters
-New Items
-New areas
-Powercreep features
But it won't change the game from what it is, if that's what you're still hoping for after 4 years. D3 is not an MMO.
It wont change the game from what it is?
Did you even play vanilla? Then play ROS? The game will change a ton with an expansion, they know they have a few issues to work out to make this game long standing like D2.
I've made a large post about this after Blizzcon last year ( I was there) after speaking with Dev's who just said "just wait, you will be extremely happy" thats all the info they would give me.
I will be at blizzcon this year as well, and mark my words. Blizzcon 2016 will be the year of Diablo. It is literally the ONLY game that would make sense to headline since no show for 2 years in a row. Legion is out in August, Starcraft is dead atm, hearthstone releases expansions constantly, overwatch JUST came out, hero's of the storm gets updates just like hearthstone.

Blizzcon 2016 *Year of Diablo*
I really hope that you're right but the past has taught me to be extremely skeptical.
My personal prediction would be that they will keep putting out content patches and updates... No more expansions and no new classes - Just new items, maps, features (like the cube), etc...
Not to mention that lost ark's first trailers had alot more quality than the most recent one, where they really reduced graphics quality maybe cause of performance issues, there's even some youtube videos comparing them.
OT: Blizzcon will have something for us for sure, with the most active/known streamer of D3 being invited by blizzard to gamescom i assume blizzcon will be about the thing they annouce at gamescom.

While the builds changed a lot and there is *slightly* more to do in RoS than vanilla, the game hardly changed. Instead of getting bored within 1 week, you get bored within 2 weeks in RoS. That's not much of an improvement.

Your comment is completely off base and just wrong. It just proves you DID NOT play vanilla.
Also, expansions can introduce engine improvements as well, as most expansions do, fixing some of the current lag limitations we have with a variety of builds. To me, that is the biggest reason to launch an expansion, D3 has much of what it needs to be a long self standing game, but it needs an overhaul to the density lag, which has been improved a ton for solo, but still falls behind in group play.

a big space for diablo unannounced project, not an expension entirely new game. theres lots of hints for that...

Ok, I'll bite. I can think of several reasons

Unannounced project = World of Diablo.
10th Anniversary of Blizzcon
25th Anniversary of Blizzard
20th Anniversary of Diablo.
This will be the year of Diablo at Blizzcon and I will be there.
