Well, it seems that Games in consoles nowadays contains the idea of ACHIEVEMENTS:
finish the game in less than 1 hour - achievement unlocked!
use only basic attacks to kill the boss - achievement unlocked!
etc..
Now, everyone agrees (and i urges you too agree! : ) ) that diablo most important thing is loot (equipment)
Im thinking why not incorporate this idea into diablo3?
why not making an achievement system that every achievement unlocks a very unique item for you character.
let there be some really sick achievements that grant you a super item that is very very hard to get (to be honest - impossible to get unless you unlock the achievement)
these items should not be tradable (cash or gold)
now imagine someone walking with a golden armor that only unlocked if you ... (insert a very hard task here)
that's great.
They already mentioned that Achievements won't be awarding us with items. It's very likely we'll get armor dyes, however that will change the color of our armor to special colors.
Offered power adjusting items in the achievement system would water down the randomization of the loot system. When there is a sure way to increase your power players will take that route. Moving the focus from the action and onto the task for the achievement. Achievement systems serve the purpose of promoting replay with additional tasks out of the norm or specific challenges and thus should only reward cosmetic awards considering it is an opt in optional system.

Is this true?. Could you inform me where that info can be found? I'm drooling over armor dyes....awesome!

Achivements like artwork, pictures, lore, ability to change a specific soundtrack (perhaps in the character selectionscreen), sounds / soundboard, colorscheme on basic stuff etc. That could be rewarding and fun.. and easy to fix into the game.
