I think stamina was just something to annoy the new players since it was not an issue at higher levels. I personally hated having to keep an eye on my constantly fluctuating stamina levels...
Other recent diablo-clone games such as titan quest and torchlight don't use stamina and it's just fine that way.
As far as I know there isn't even an option to run. Your character constantly moves at the same speed, which seems to be jogging. This would imply that there is no stamina in the game.
Also, when you look at the various images of the UI, you don't see anything that could resemble a stamina bar.
I always walked since running dropped your defense to zero.
I can see stamina used for attacks. If you are tired you are not going to hit as hard. If it is used it is likely going to give you bonus to damage and it may be a mod on items. Something like strength bonus to damage.
It may also work as IAS.

Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
My main problem with stamina was that it a negative attribute. If they made it so you were stronger if your stamina was over 50% then there would be a reason for it. In D2 it only hurt you when you had none.

I won't miss it, it was rather pointless. I'm ok assuming that all of these heroes have decent stamina. AND it's one less useless potion drop I have to deal with.

I never liked stamina so I would be happy if they take it out... it was annoying at the begining of the game and it was pointless at the end... It would take a lot of work to make a good stamina system that adds something to the gameplay...

I do not mind negatives if you got an advantage that is hard to get elsewhere.

I never see anyone walk because of that ! The few I see are on low level and they walk because they don't have enough stamina !

And I think too, characters are heros so I assuming they have enough stamina !
Stamina is just a unbalanced feature, and it's annoying to miss stamina in low level. Because you NEVER care about in high level (after lv20 you don't have problem with that).
Like you said it doesn't make a noticible impact except on low level it's annoying.
Running was supposed to reduce defence by half but instead the game engine reduces to zero. Monsters will have a max of 95% to hit since that is a cap.

I'm sure the game will have walking for certain conditions. Like something hits you in the head and you become dizzy and unable to run.
Yeah maybe, like stun or slow. But I think we can't call that "walk" it's an effect that you can't control. I don't see why Blizz will want put a controlable option to walk, if it's for the same reason as d2, it's not work lol, everyone run anyway!

I haven't doubt about that !! Slowing programming is already done with slow time, so why not to use it in other ways ?
