I had a quick question regarding this that I was hoping maybe someone could address... in DII, exceptionals and elites re-used the same graphical representation... I know that it's probably a little too soon for conjecture on what Nightmare and Hell might be like, but will this be the case for DIII as well?
To clarify, what I'm asking is if the possibility exists that in the new game, the exceptionals and elites will have new sets of graphics (so that shortsword, gladius, and falcata would have a total of three designs), or if this would consume too much space?
As far as I know, no one has brought this up, but apologies if it's already been covered.
Hmm, interesting. I haven't heard anything regarding this. I can't even recall any confirmation on the existance of exceptionals and elites.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if the models were re-used. As long as there was still plenty to choose from, it wouldn't bother me. It would be cool if they did all have unique models, but I'd prefer they spend their time on more important things.

Yea it could be jumping the gun to even say there will be exceptionals and elites, but personally, I'd be sad to see them go. I think a lot of what kept me playing through those higher difficulties was getting the elites.
Actually, I think I remember reading about the armor/weapon model thing... I think you might even be able to sneak away with using the same armor models and changing the weapon models and there would still be some pretty interesting variance.

Well if you only find some of the armors in normal some nightmare and some in hell difficulty.. just like before.
Or they would drop by the level of the monster you kill.. So basically we have a same system as before but the graphics, weapon properties are not the same.

Yea, that's basically what I'm getting at. It would be cool if they could do it for armors too, but if ya can't do it, ya can't do it.

All we know from the blizz team, is that there will be tons and tons of items, but we do not really know how the "Diablo 3 items system will work", but for my self, im pretty sure they will make graphier tousands of time better but to answer your question I don't know if they will modify the base item graphic. just add more and new etc.
