We always seem to be going on about what we as a fan group think about what has been shown of D3, but has anyone ever asked a person who has not had anything to do with the previous franchises to give their opinion on the game?
I showed the gameplay video to my fiancee last night and she now wants to play the game when it comes out. This is unprecedented as she normally hates all PC games.
Her comments on the game and what she found cool were completely different to what I had been thinking. I think someone with new eyes looking at a classic will see different and cool things that maybe old fans had never seen.
I think thats a great idea. I would love to know what she found interesting about it that you didn't catch.

Hmm.. maybe I'll show my gf some videos. Perhaps I'll get lucky and she'll wanna play too lol. Then again maybe it'll backfire. My friend showed his gf WoW and now she won't get off. He can't even play anymore 'cause she's always on his account lol.
I'd also like to know what your gf's though about the game.
I went back and looked at the D3 website today to kind of pretend that it was a completely new game that I knew nothing about. I then failed, and made a link between one of the bestiary entries and D2 (the one about skeletons hiding in barrels and then jumping out at people)
I seem incapable of approaching this game with emotional detachment
My girlfriend is not very computer-inclined. I tried to get my girlfriend to play Warhammer Online with me but no avail. But then I also showed her the D3 trailer and she was very impressed... "Wow is that a game?" she thought it had this enchanting atmosphere to it and even thought it was scary! I told her how easy and addictive it was to play, so she has been asking about it lately.
Heh, I'll show it to mine as well.
I REALLY doubt she'll play it though, only game she's ever played was GTA, and alls she did was run over hookers.
But hey, you never know ^^.

Yeh, I think I'll tell her the storyline too, because I shown to a close friend SC and she was very interested, she bought the game and still plays it.

getting women into video games such as Diablo is diffucult and dangerous, but could be Very awesome if done right. Basically as I see it, if she has any sort of sub-mainstream/mainstreamGamer interests such as popular and easily digestible anime( ghost in the shell, bleach, cowboy bebop, etc.), video games in general, star wars, or popular sci fi(like battlestar galactica or transformers) then that could be utilized as a gateway and it will be more likely she will be interested in listening to Diablo ramblings or playing it.
But most often and tragically, trying to talk to "fully mainstream" women about gamer stuff ends in EPIC FAILURE. Especialy Diablo, it means devil for pete's sake. and FEW THINGS are worse than dealing with a chick who gets weirded out by ur gamer interests. THEN of course its a test of whats more important.
On the other hand tho if she has a chance of being interested, i think the idea that women can kick butt as a female character in Diablo will also sell them on being interested in the game. But it would be best i think to not say stuff along the lines of: "zomg! look at the amazon's awesome powers and skillz... AND CHECK OUT her amazing pixelated bum! Do ya see how it shakes when she runs? wait! why are you leaving?!"
My Fiancee has said in the past that video games in general are a waste of time. So in essence she was saying my hobby and second favourite pastime was a waste of time.
Now she seems to have changed her tune a bit after seeing me play fable 2 and such.
I have been playing D2 for many years around her and she says the only reason she likes D3 is because of the way it looks and plays in the trailer. When she sees D2 she says that game looks rubbish. I think its the visuals that attract many people rather than the D2 fans who say "yay! rare item drop!"
LOL - that is exactly how I got into the game. I was sitting on couch watching tv and my then bf was playing - every now and then I would look over at screen and his head kept getting in my way, so I moved closer. Soon I lost all interest in the tv show I was watching and discovered I was sitting next to him watching him play. I kept asking questions about different things he was doing, started to annoy him lol. He finished for the night and I decided to give it a try. He never got his disks back and we were having to divide up "gaming" time on the comp. hehehe Eventually he bought a new set and we got a second comp.

My girlfriend like gaming alot, but she never likes the games i like... She likes action adventures (like zelda and mario stuff) and more interative stuff like mario party and guitar hero. I'm a 100% RPG freak.

d3 looks awsome. Cant argue with that.
