In a response to someone that wanted guns in d3 in a thread on the blizzard forums.
I say this is a hint about the ranged class and maybe the next class to be announced at blizzcon
Imagine having the ability to load up arrows on your bow / crossbow, the more arrows you want to use at once the more time you will wait, kinda like charging a melee strike but its ranged.
The charging time (the time it takes u to put 3 arrows or more on your bow) shouldn't take long to prevent any sort of slowing game play or whatever.
When charging your bow with more arrows, and using a cool cold arrows skill ( like a cold plasma laser rifle ) that explodes when it hits enemies, its a total new thing. i mean we had multiple shot in d2 but this is different.
The multi shot covers a big area, this new system will be like... shooting 5 arrows that are all in a radius of 20-50 centimeters so its like a shotgun... or a plasma laser rifle, with cold :thumbsup:
So you have a cool system that can have so many combinations using the charging up arrows ability and many different skills that grant your arrows special effects such as cold, fire, etc...
Lets say that fire arrows knockback enemies, so when you are approached by a melee ranged monster you will use your fire arrows, while switching fast to a poison arrow which is the fastest with the longest range to flank down casters or something....

Or the weapon of the Unicorn Ruler boss in the "Rainbow Level".

actually, i think this could be pretty cool. imagine if it was multi-element attack? (or maybe u already said something like that) like a rainbow of colors when ur attacking a crowd of monsters. i dont know, but it just sounds like a cool idea to me. i would love to see this implemented into d3. but i think it would only be fun if you could reload the arrows somewhat fast, because i dont like the idea of charging up an attack and then if you get hit, it messes up. well thats my opinion on this idea.
@Genesis: Yea there wont be any guns it has been confirmed. But i dont know if you were replying to other people's post on this thread or to mine, but i meant that the ranged class will be using a bow or a crossbow, shooting 5 cold arrows at once or something.
@Pjanoo: Well, what i think Bashiok meant with the thing about the amo is the simple fact that im trying to explain here, that you will be able to shoot more arrows at once. No ammo technically, but yeah... Maybe there wont be arrow quivers and all, but still.

I gotta say, I really like your idea. I hope the ranged class gets something along those lines, combined with spell runes there are ENDLESS posibilities.
May have to limit the amount of elemental arrows that can be mixed however, else characters could simply mix EVERY element of arrow and be able to tackle every situation with the same tactic.

This looks pretty much like wizard's spell when critically hit. But fire spells set enemies on fire, dealing damage over time and arcane magic deals silence.
I think this is pretty cool.
