I don't know if it has been mentioned yet or if anyone else knows about durability in D3. IMO I never really understood why they had durability in games other then a money leech and to add some "realism" into the game. When it comes directly to Diablo, I find it completely unnecessary. In D1 you got new items before you even had to repair your old ones. In D2, you had to repair your equipment but why? Money was never an issue so the cost didn't make a difference in game play. To me it was just this annoying little thing that made you go to the smith of each act periodically to repair your items. It does add a bit of "realism" to the game but didn't change the game play. So if in D3 they are looking to "streamline" things to make for quicker paced gameplay, are they going still implement durability. I am hoping that they don't. All it does is take up time without adding anyhting on its own to the game. If there is a reason for durability in the Diablo franchise (yes I understand it in other games such as WoW) then please let me know, but if not, I hope they remove it frm D3.

As far as I know theres no durability in items (just see any SS that shows a item chart).
It was just a "money sink" - wich is very important. But if they find other ways to sink out currence from the economy, durability can be ignored for sure.
Durability would be no issue if it was the same as WoW, and I mean you technically never really run out of durability on an item, if you just repair them when you get the chance (and that can be as little as once a day, even if you play a lot, but in the case of WoW as long as you didn't die too much).
The way WoW does it, I think its a nice feeling. You still have to pay and feel like you maintain your equipement, which is fun, but you are never really annoyed that your stuff will break and that you would need unnecessary trip to town to repair them.
That said, I think removing durability completely is not the best of ideas. I personally want durability, but I prefer durability gone than have it like in D2.
If in DIII they play on making gold much more valuable - and the centre of economy, then durability and the need of paying for repairs will be much better than in DII (since, like you said in DII, it was unnecessary due to easy money). So it'll be annoying, but much more real - and make it feel like you have to work for the maintainence of your items.

Well they said there will be no durability in d3 thats a fact.
And as you say it'll gbe annoying to repair items but more realistic.
But since games are about having fun not being realistic im glad they finally removed this feature.
Durability was fun sometimes as it added realism, and other times it was a nuisance, they removed it, yes, and surely when we play D3 we won't even notice that the durability has been removed.
