The only difference that seems to be there are the "fury globes". But is it really that different?
A Warriors special attack consumes rage. A Barbarians attack consumes either nothing or fury globes(correct me if i am wrong).
Alright, now isnt it almost identical? Bare with me while i am trying to make this more clear.
When a warrior reaches 30rage, he can do a specific attack consuming the rage. So in other words, he reaches a treshhold in his rage, and then consumes it. This is identical with the Barbarians. The Barbarian reaches a treshhold (1 furyglobe), and then consumes it to do an attack.
The only "real" difference is the graphics and naming of the system. There is nothing special and new about it.
In my opinion its a good try of making a new system, but lets hope its still a work in progress.
What do you guys think?
[Edit]
I am a real fan of the Warrior class. Though, when the rage/fury system sounds really cool in theory. It is something every Warrior strugles with in PvP. Yes i know, Diablo is a whole different game. But my experience with this system is not something to talk posstivly about. I hope that they will make it more robust and fail proof system. Which makes the Barbarians play fast and destructive. Instead of just a Rage V2.

The barbarian fury is fine. I never though it was a totally new system, i allways said that it comes directly from wow's warrior, but it's not a bad thing at all. If people think that rage/fury is cliche, hell, wtf Mana Point is ?
About how it will work in D3, i'm pretty sure they will balance it.
I don't play wow anymore, but in my time warrior were great in PvP. The fact that they started the match with low rage was a matter of pure balance, really, if warrior started with full power no class would stand a chance. The barbarian will have skill to build up fury from nowhere and i believe as long as the duel last, fury will not degenerate.
I kno it's looks like melee class have a large drown back in PvP, expecially when his "movement skills" (charge, leap) looks like pretty much limited. But the barb gets fury when his hitted, and the oponent will gotta hit you (duh!) so in one way or another barbs may have enough fury to charge/leap and reach his enemy.
The way it is gained is the same, but that's actually where the comparison really ends. There isn't really a bar or 'pool' of it, but 3 simple globes.
Actually the Barb having a mana pool with mana leech weapons would feel and act more like the Warrior in WoW than this system will, if you really stop and think about it.
The way the D3 system will work will look and feel very distinctive from the WoW Warrior system, from everything I've heard / read on the subject, if for no other reason than the games are very different, are played very differently, and so on.
I know I'll be run out of town for saying so, but while we're on the subject, someone really needs to say this: WoW isn't the anti-christ of games just because you / me / we don't like it, or like it as much as we like Diablo. There are very few things from WoW that D3 could riff off of and have it feel like Diablo and truly add to the game, but if they do in fact find such things and riff off them in a way that meets the two preceding points, why would anyone really care?
Yes, it shares similarities to the WoW mechanic, but it's hardly identical and personally I think it sounds like a lot of fun, so why harp on the minor mechanical similarities and assume that makes it a bad system? They are both heavy melee fighters, having a system that centers on hitting / getting hit only provides more motivation to keep fighting and a way to keep you having fun while fighting. Sounds perfect to me.
That all said, Blizz has been clear that the system is in no way 'final' or finished, so we really don't know how the final mechanic will look / feel / act.

I really hope that is the case for Diablo3.
I would not say WoW equals bad. But some things i don't really want to be coppied. And some things i would love to see coppied. Fury/Rage is one of those things that i would rather leave in WoW.
In my opinion its still nearly the same. But then again, it is a work in progres. We'll see how it will end up. Hopefully a bit different then it is now to distinguish it from already known mechanics.
To comment Mana. It is a classic and perfecly balanced (at most times) pool of enery. I was commenting that rage has alot of simmularities to fury. Which are 2 different games by the same company. I would love to see some more uniqueness to this energy pool.

wow rage doesnt generate from special hits (mortal strike etc)
what I last read from bashiok, fury does regen from specials
Also there are some other differences how the fury works/regens because of the 3 bubbles in d3 vs 0/100 rage in wow.
Sure it is a bit of a remake from wow rage but yeah what mana is then?D Remake from lots of games. Imo its good that we have something really really new stuff for D3 barb.
Why does no one remember D2 Assassin combo points? Worked basically the same way as D3 fury. MUCH closer than WoW's rage.
Also people keep mentioning PvP. They haven't even started PvP last I heard. They said they wanted a solid fun gameplay before they started worrying about PvP balance.
Mm ye and assasin also reminds rogue from WoW..(or rogue is similar to assasin :)) collecting those combo points and then releasing them.. the more combo points you have the more damage the finisher does

Yes here it is again. WoW!
The Shaman uses an almost identical system as the wizard.
You cast a spell, you use mana.
You cast another spell, you use more mana.
Mana for the shaman refills over time
Mana for the wizard refills over time
Stronger spells cost more mana for the shaman
Stronger spells cost more mana for the wizard
And so on.
I think they should take mana off the wizard beacuse they are clearly copying wow.
They need a name change and they need to completly redo the mana system beacuse it reminds me of wow.
I will not buy d3 unless they change the mana system of the wizard to something new and unique.

Also - both WoW and D3 have inventory.
This shall not pass! It's totally lame that characters in D3 wear armor and use weapons just as characters in WoW do.
Remove inventory in D3 at once or I shall declare this game to be total fail!!!1 Ze fail I tell you, ze fail!

Sweet mother of Christ, I hope you're performing some kind of parody-trolling here. You can't be serious. This is so obvious it must be sarcastic trolling but I've seen enough on these forums that I'd believe you to be serious.
It was an obvious mocking of the OP. I feel he has a small point on fury generation. I am not a huge fan of having a generate system rather a deplete style system that d2 has via mana. I know he is concerned about pvp and it is 2 soon to be terribly concerned in my opinion. One thing I dont see the logic is in the skill that "pops" fury. What is the point of having to point this skill if it will be a staple? but than again look at the sorc and teleport so meh
I could kinda see the PvP concern, but in one of Bashiok's recent posts on the system he was specifically asked if PvP was being taken into consideration with the new system and he said 'Yes'.
Why does no one remember D2 Assassin combo points? Worked basically the same way as D3 fury. MUCH closer than WoW's rage.

I'm sure they will have fury generating abilities. Like in WoW for example there are a couple skills that cost nothing, add some rage, and have a small cool down. It's a great way to go into battle with a little fury/rage ready to go. They could easily make a couple shouts like that.
I have faith they'll work it out. As for PvP balance, I have faith in that also.
I think it'll all be alright. Stop complaining and just be happy that they're remaking the Barbarian AT ALL! I'm a barb at heart and I just want to be able to get my guy back up to lvl 99, and then start as basically the same person. Just be happy! Feeeel the loooooove!

This "new" energy pool seems unique at first.
But it is not unique at all, it's nearly a copy paste of a similar system in a different game.
