I cant wait to magic find, i was thinking of making a mf wiz or a mf barb as my first char. do act 1 boss like 10 times and other super rare monsters alot before going to act 2 in the game and then doing it in act 2 etc... i wonder if they even bring magic find back? Cant see d3 without having mf items.

I Will not Shave Until Diablo 3 Comes out! Starting 6-19-09:cool::confused::evil::P:O
MFing sucks all the joy out of Diablo All of it! And this doesn't actually mean I don't love finding loot. Because I do. But when you do game after game killing the same bosses over and over just looking for something good, that's no way to live. These people are usually prefer Sorcs, too. I hate Sorcs.
True MFing doesn't come until after you've lost all other reasons to play Diablo. Think about it. Those hardcore MFers, that's all they freaking do.
No joke. If one's sole purpose in a game is to find loot (as fun as it is to get a new item), ya might as well go out and get "loot" at a real job. In my opinion, the finds in the game are only secondary and are a means to the end-game. But somehow that has become the main part of the game? Maybe I'm just missing something - help me out!
Finding loot should happen naturally as you play the game, without having to make a specific character for it or only kill in a specific area. Doing that means you spent 80% of your time with 1 MF character, doing MF runs in MF areas. And thats mega yawn fest
Although Bosses are always going to drop more than normal monsters, and as long as they don't fuck it up by letting all characters teleport then then even without an MF mechanic the Wizard will find better items just by being faster. So its inescapable in that sense, but shouldn't be deliberately emphasized
And if they do bring it back, I hope they make it better than this MF %. Luck points would be more comprehensible
naaaah ... D3 can not exists without MF
MF-ing and RuneWords making about 80% of the game.
Meh.. D2 is such a bad game then.
MF sux. It's totally natural to have a heavy oriented PvM builds that naturally are better to find items... But a mod that adds better chance of find stuff only increase the great twist in D2's economy, because if you can increase your chance to get loot at almost 400% is because the loots are pretty damn hard to drop, so people that do not make a mf gear have a terrible time trying to b sucefull in the game. In the end MF is a must have and the game loose in customisation.
I hope that there is some way to increase your magic find, however I hope that way does not involve having to replace most of your equipment with dedicated MF gear. It always bothered me that one of the biggest parts of the endgame was MFing to find gear that you might not wear all that much because you were always wearing MF gear. Of course good gear is important for PvP, but I never really got into it that much.
Ideally Blizzard would find a way to increase MF that is independent of gear. Perhaps they could have potions. They could even devise some sort of rudimentary crafting system that involves bringing dropped components to an NPC that can brew up potions that could do things like increasing MF for a certain amount of time. Perhaps they could have shrines (or something similar to them) that could increase MF. They could even tie MF into the combo system they seem to be playing around with.
I feel like the most practical way to increase one's chances would be to simply tie those chances into all the random encounters and scripted events they have been touting. Adds more reward but also helps put the focus back on the game play than rushing bosses over and over to get items. I hope they can avoid the PvP build mentality. That's not the game, that's just a sign of unfounded addiction.

I quit playing D2 when I realized that I completed everything and all I was doing were Baal runs for items (and then what do you do with the items, kill Baal some more). There was absolutly no point to it so I made a noob game, gave away all my gear, then tradded in D2 for 15 bucks lol.
I didnt mind MFing but I really hope this time that we will have something to do besides running the same bosses over and over....tons of content for the level cap would help solve that I hope
People enjoy MFing only because it enchances the anticipation and surprise when stuff drops. Its like opening a cristmas present. Is that really what you want from a game?
lol... well, I think some folks do. I was just reminded of how my girlfriend used to play this internet game called Pop-It solely for the sake of the popping noises. I guess some folks don't need much to be entertained. To each their own.
Still, I'm not so sure Magic Find (and rigid character builds for that matter) as an end-game helps the quality of the gaming community.
Magic Find is stupid. It shouldn't exist. You shouldn't artificially equip your characters with non-sense to actually get an appropriate amount of magic drops. It becomes a necessity to find enough things, and thats a bad thing.
I really dont see the "fun" in grinding bosses in mf armor for a drop. The game should be winnable on its hardest difficulty without inane amounts of grind, as long as you know what you're doing and have an optimised build, which should be easy with D3's respeccing. I honestly would't miss mf items at all.
It wouldn't be fair to PvM players if they couldn't get something more out of the game in this way. Otherwise it would just be a PvP game, and even idiots know if all Diablo II had going for it was PvP, it would not still exist. There's something both nostalgic and anticipatorily fun about MFing. If you don't like it, alright. State your opinion. You don't need to call everyone else's opinions "stupid", though. That's trolling and doesn't add to your argument.
I think with correct drop balancing then they could do away with the extra mechanic and just solely rely on the fact that some characters are going to be naturally faster and better at killing PvM than others
Therefore the best PvM characters will be the best looting/finding characters
It wouldn't be the end of looting or anything :O. People are jumping from no mf -> no looting
Yeah that's definitely not what I'm advocating. I still enjoy finding stuff. I just simply don't like doing five minute game after five minute game of exclusively looking for good drops.
MF sucked and i hated it, i hope they will make a new system for loot. In fact i wish there is no system and loot is completely normal and everybody have just as much chance as anyone to find any item in the game depending on the area they are playing in.

there is not going to be rune words or a least they don't plan on it.

I really don't think I have anything to add to that. The only difference being that I enjoy(ed) MFing.
