When thousand pounder dies he drops a golden item along with a purple one :O. I dont really know if this has already been said or not. Same thing happens on the last boss fight. You have to time the pause just right but its there. They adding another WoW feature? Sorry if this is a double thread I didnt search cuz im lazy :(.
So is purple taking over the new rarest item? Or will it still be uniques? Gold vs purple... I'm going with gold. old school ftw .
"EDIT After talkin in this thread for awhile, figured some interesting facts i should put here.
Both purple items that dropped on each boss were weapons, both unique items that dropped on each boss were armor related. However there was no yellow items that dropped in the video.
Thousand pounder: Unique chest armor, Purple Two handed axe
Seige assault: Unique amulet, Purple short staff.

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
Frankly, I was really annoyed with Diablo II's colors.
Gray could mean ethereal or socketed, or both (o.o). Gold and Yellow looked alike at first glance. They should have added a few colors, like Red. Not sure if Purple is required unless they added an extra item type.
If purple was to replace something I'm guessing it will be the regular rares with the blue text. because It could get hard if they kept it blue, especially if you're in a blue dungeon like the one we've seen.
Does it really matter in the end. The weapon name could be colored pink and be called the "Super Elite" items for all I care. Just give me more loot!!!

The hammer the barb uses later is a blue item isnt it? But it's name is gray when on the ground. Of course that could of just been a mistake.

I must be blind but, where in the video does it drop a yellow? I never saw any yellows drop.

In the video there is a purple, yellow and gold items. So I'm not quite sure what the purple will be. Maybe set items or something new.
Where in the video does a Yellow item drop>? I never saw any yellows drop. Sorry if im mistaken but I've watched it like 40 times and i never saw a yellow item drop.

Well to me the armor that the Thousand Pounder drops looks gold (unique) but the Amulet the Assault Beast drops looks yellow (rare).
I just watched it again, I'm pretty sure that's what the colors are.

No, thats golden. I just checked. Its the same exact color as the item that drops off of thousand pounder, there both gold/purple items on both boss's. Blizzard hand picked every drop too. maybe is a message saying no more yellow. Or purple replaced yellow. Or that purple is above unique, and unique is now the new rare or something.

Sorry for the double post, but if you want pure confirmation, look at the seige breaker Assault Beast's name when the ammy drops, that is in yellow, and it is a different color than the amulet. Which is golden.

Just look at the seige breakers name at the top of the screen when the amulet drops, its in yellow.
on a side note those colors look the same to me in the pictures lol.
Well yeah the pictures look pretty much the same to me, I dunno anymore. While watching the video they seemed a little different now side by side they seem less different.
You think they got rid of yellow? I duno about you, but for me opening up the inventory screen and mousing over a bunch of purple items and the inventory being as it is would remind me a lot of WoW lol. They should have used Red or something, hopefuly they change it to a diff color.

Well red is already used isn't it? I think it's for a few quest items or potions or something. I doubt they got rid of yellow, unless they made it into another item.
Were broken items red?
I liked the colours in D2 especially the green sets. I would think purple is replacing yellow or green. It could be an even more powerful type of item

<shrugs> I guess they do look pretty similar. Then again it's pretty bad quality/small and I even have the high res video.
Just look at the seige breakers name at the top of the screen when the amulet drops, its in yellow, so the amulet IS gold colored.
on a side note those colors look exactly the same to me in those pictures you posted lol..
