The other night when i was looking at the game play trailer of the barbarian equip a full set of armor i had an instant flashback not to wow, but to warcraft 3. The huge shoulderpads, the braided beard, he looked like a warcraft 3 orc. I mean if you look at a drawing or render of Thrall you will see that they share the same V hairline. I wonder if this is a casualty of some of Blizzards team gone to work on Hellgate london. I have no idea who did the character design for warcraft 3 but if he wasn't on Bill Roper's team then i could only guess he did the charcter design for the new barb(in the game play preview). I hope the "WoW" look doesn't take over diablo3, Diablo2 looked real(for the time). Above all the characters looked origninal, you saw a render from the game and instantly you knew it was diablo2, the barb had a blue steak across his face(gone now), clean shaven, and a hairdo more like the Blademaster rather than Thrall, My idea's are all speculative and opinion, if i'm wrong correct me(facts are what count) and i want opinions on the topic as well
I suggest you go back and take a closer look at the shoulder pads Barbarians wore in Diablo 2, and some Diablo 2 concept art that shows Barbarians with shoulder pads. I don't know where everyone gets the idea that there were no large shoulder pads in Diablo 2 .
That said, I do agree that the shoulder pads on the Barbarian in Diablo 3 are large, and I would prefer them too be shrunk in the preference of realism
I would also bet that the shoulderpads shown in the trailer are the biggest types you will see in the game, just like the ones in Diablo 2, they should vary in size
As for the blue warpaint, couldn't agree more. Where did those go? He should of painted that back on
Also, when you look at diablo 2 character lore it's written that when soldiers tried to attack mount Arreat " Their(The barbarians) bodies painted in mysterious designs, the tribesmen descended on the invaders,..."
One could say that the Barb got lazy with age in maintaining his appearance, but dammit if he has enough time to braid all his facial hair then it's not hard to paint a line across your face XD (especially since Barbarians are so heavy on tradition)
and yeah i'll agree the barb had large shoulder pads, but they made sense, it's hard to explain but they looked more like hand crafted(forged) medieval plating rather than tank armor.
I know the quality is crap. But what I was trying to show was, the main reason the shoulder pads look larger is because of the view and the zoom - Its not exactly the same as D2
yeah you got a point in that too, on that note i hope they make the female characters breasts freaking HUGE from any angle/distance XD With all the metal in shoulder pads and breastplate, they'd have none for the weapons XD

With Mount Arreat destroyed a lot of barbarians lost their will to continue on with their ways.

Though they were once misunderstood as simple, bloodthirsty invaders, the long and noble history of these proud people is now rightly acknowledged. And therein lies the greater tragedy here, for those of us familiar with the nobility of the barbarians remember too what they call their "vigil", the concept that lay at the very heart of their culture. The barbarians consider it their sworn duty to protect Mount Arreat and the mysterious object within. They believe that if they fail to uphold their duty to the great mount, or are not given a proper burial upon its slopes, they will be denied a true warrior's death, and their spirits shall roam the land without honor for all eternity.
...inches long maybe XD, but on another(less physical) note I hope blizzard retains as much of the old look of Diablo as possible, there's that one petition where around 60,000 people signed to prevent diablo from looking like WoW
