Personally
I love the whole system behind the runes now
How you can put them into skills
but I'm not too fond of the name
Such as "Striking" "Multistrike" "Power"
they're just so... bland...
and why isnt it called strike rune? or multistrike called multistriking rune
lol
i think strike and multistrike would be better
Don't really care what they call it..could be Jimmy's happy funtime rune..well maybe not that bad...but the idea itself I think is really cool. I'm sure we haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg for what all the runes are going to be. My opinion is that I think customizing skills and how they function and look is just as bad a$$ as crazy awesome loot.
I just hope one or 2 wont be real cookie cutters; then everyone will switch to those...
hopefully there are atleast maybe 30 runes...unless they are out doing themselves; 50++
think of all the possible runes..they could have health rune, and whenever you use an attack you maybe gain +1 hp or something?? or +% dmg type rune..(not being very creative lol)..but you get the point.

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
This is one of the best ideas I have seen so far from blizz for D3, and I really hated the D2 rune system, what a horrible waste. And I agree with Kefka, this could lead to a ton of builds that will all be equally powerful.
Seems like they will add a good deal of diversity and put a greater incentive on using more than one skill, so it seems really awesome. The names may not seem too original but they need to be simple and intuitive enough for a first time player to pick one up an understand what it can do.

Don't try to be a great man, just be a man... and let history make its own judgment. -Zefram Cochrane, Star Trek
I loved the whole idea. I think a elemental rune culd be cool. Like a 'Fire' rune that add a fire damage to the offensive skills, fire resistance bonus to the defensive skills, change the element to fire in a elemental skill (Arcane Bolt causa now fire damage) and greatly boost damage in a fire skill.
A unic rune, that gives a insane boost would be also fun. But the hero could carry only one of those rune.
I would not be surprised to see that certain high level runes will be limited to having only 1 of each socketed on your entire character at a time to keep from stacking a certain good ability.
i know that given 2 months time the perfect build will be made and no one will use the other runes...
*i like how the new runes are used though, how they augment things.. but i also liked how they were used originally in d2. too bad they couldnt incorporate both.
According to the other posts the OP didn't like much about things copied from other games/movies/etc.. these rune effects are pretty much from WoW, how does he like them?:) He was so much against WoW.
How about you quit being such a dick mr. 28 year old
what are you doing playing diablo anyways?
i'm 20 and even i am getting too old for this
and i bet i'm smarter then you
And a lot of the things they brought over from WoW I didn't like but this new rune system is an improvement from the shitty runewords from D2
The rune thing is not new, but I don't remember it in WoW...
Well not runes in WoW but Glyphs.. same idea.. add them to your glyph menu to increase damage and what not.
And a lot of the things they brought over from WoW I didn't like but this new rune system is an improvement from the shitty runewords from D2
And a lot of things you said are from WoW are not even in D3.. like those talents they are still skill trees and skills from what I know. Also about the graphics, no where near like WoW.
Anyways I agree with you about the runewords that were stupid in D2.. first not powerful enough and then way too powerful.

i also like how they have colorful icons for skills now
it looks so cool
