I copied some interesting questions. Can't paste the whole answers cuz of the translator it will paste both german and english mixed up which will take long to edit
But here is a few:
Diablo Source: Will there be an open Battle.net mode and a mode Lan?
We currently have no intentions to LAN games, we focus fully on the Battle.net, where we not only have the ability to quickly contact with other players record, but also to Blizzard community and thus also to support , As in the community.
Diablo Source: So no (monthly) fees for the Battle.net or the game?
What I can say is that it is our goal, a game box model and not subscription based, but I can not say that we are no fees for whatever will have.
Yeah I agree with you.. also the people that complain they can't play with their friends in multiplayer.. why can't they log in to battle.net and make an own channel and private games.. it is 99% the same experience as lan.
It's not a question of bandwidth. The problem is that multiple computers cannot access Battlenet from the same internet connection. We have tried already...
I don't blame them for it, because the network architecture for LAN play is completely different than Client-Server. It would just be a lot of extra work for only a small benefit. Diablo doesn't need LAN nearly so much as FPS games...it's doesn't require super low latency, and I don't think many people would spend the time developing a high level character that couldn't go on BNET...even if I only want to player single player, I do it on Bnet...just in case I feel like becoming more social when I get to a high level.
There's no excuse not to implement LAN functionality. The fact that dimebog et al can even deride people who simply want to play on LAN is mind boggling. Blizzard really can do no wrong to you people.

There's several excuses.
Do you want D3 to have a DRM or some faggotry like certain other modern games? No? Well guess what - Blizzard's DRM is battlenet. If you wan't to play online you need to buy the game, and all of their newer games are focused on online play. I am willing to bet that more than 90% of the LAN 'supporters' are those sad people who just want to pirate the game, or buy one copy to supply the whole family/block of friends. Fuck. Them.
The biggest 'excuse' are exploits and private servers. No LAN = less hacks, no private servers. If you can't grasp that than I pitty you. Blizzard can 'do us no wrong'? Obviously they do all the wrong to you in this world. Grow up.
Don't really care about it but there really isn't any viable reason to not put in LAN.
If you can't see reasons it doesn't mean that there are no reasons, it just means that you are probably very ignorant or stupid or didn't investigate anything before making allegations or say, read my last post and agree with the plain facts that I have stated.
Do you want D3 to have a DRM or some faggotry like certain other modern games?
Not all games have them. In fact, it's mostly the EA games. Blizzard never had any extreme DRM on its games before, I see no reason to start now. DRM never helped sell a game, and it never prevented piracy (Spore was cracked REAL fast), so unless someone in Blizzard is an utter dumbass, extreme DRM will not be implemented no matter what happens.

Blizzard's DRM is battlenet.
No, it's quality. Multiplayer online doesn't attract people. If bnet is well done then people would want to go there. If it's not, restricting LAN isn't going to attract anyone there. No matter how you screw it, battle.net does not replace LAN parties.

Your opinion, means nothing really... even if this was true, would those people buy the game for battle.net? No.

LAN is SP, therefore, any hacks used in LAN or SP do not transfer into MP, and are not connected to MP in any way. There is absolutely no advantage here, stop making things up because you don't know how online systems work, all right?
After reading this thread I went to take a look at where this actually came from and unsurprisingly it is recurrent in every single Forum on the net. It is all based on one poorly translated version of an interview done by a german magazine up in Leipzig.
To my knowledge, if they say "presently we are not focusing on LAN but solely on BNET" doesn't mean they won't be adding a LAN feature down the line or that they won't focus on it when they are done implementing Diablo 3 to battle net....
I mean, you guys have to admit it is a crap ass translation, totally unprofessional and we are basically half guessing what the fuck he meant.
Now Keep in mind that Blizzard always effectively dodges simple questions by twisting and playing with words instead of giving plain answers, so not to pre release any information on unresolved game issues.
And then basically use a shitty translation to bring it back to English with all it's nuances, and this is what we have.
You guys are really jumping the gun. Until I hear the words "There will be NO Lan based feature in D3" coming out of Jay Wilson's mouth, I won't think much of the issue.

Their DRM has ALWAYS been the battlenet. They said so themselves. The only difference now is that they are putting much more at stakes. They invested in this game more than than they did in any other previous game considering how long it has been in development and the amount of people who are working actively on it.

*BEEP* Wrong! 12 million WoW subscribers are attracted by mulitplayer online. Other companies may attract their buyers with other things. Blizzard makes attractive online games and assures sales that way. So what if Spore was cracked? D3 will be cracked, but you won't be able to play it online unless you have a legal copy.

Your opinnion means even less to me. You sound like someone who really has no idea what he is talking about but thinks it's cool to have LAN in a game which doesn't need it, and so as long we get to bash Blizzard for any single fucking thing in this world in the process, it's allll right you hear.

Exactly. They wouldn't buy it either way. So fuck them. There is nothing that you can do on LAN and can't do on battlenet. I used to play D2 on the realms 2 years after it got out, using a dialup modem, from Serbia (that's south, south-easter Europe), on USWest which is half a planet away, with no problems what-so-ever. If in this day and age you don't have any internet connection then you should perhaps consider getting one before whining about Blizzard not pleasing you and donating their game to charrity, since obviously, that is what some people expect of them. Blizzard is so mean when they don't want people pirating the game.

Wrong. You can't evoke latency in a SP game. Drop mechanics can be calculated on your computer or received from a remote server. That is completely different. LAN games are hosted by one computer that becomes the server. No LAN = no server stuff in your client. If you don't understand what that means that's REALLY your problem, but don't tell me what I know or don't know. Stop trying to dazzle me with new ways of proving your stupidity, but most of all, don't tell ME what I know or don't know since obviously you have no relevant knowledge. Just a full bag of whining.
Removing LAN play will not reduce piracy. The game will still be pirated.
Removing LAN play will not reduce cheating. Closed Battle.net was a radically different architecture than LAN play servers were. In a LAN game, the "server" trusts the clients with data. On closed Battle.net, virtually all important information is stored server-side. Regardless, people found ways to break in. Packet-sniffing is a pretty straightforward method.
I had LAN parties with tons of my friends over the lifespan of Diablo 2. It is not the same experience as creating a private channel in Battle.net. Personally, I prefer LAN play over online play. With LAN play, I am immune to the Internet failing (which it does often in my area), my group never has lag (or lag spikes), and we can all use our single-player characters we worked so hard to build up. It was also a positive experience for the friends of mine who owned Diablo 2 but had no Internet access at home (yes, there are people in this world who either have no Internet or still have dial-up).
Blizzard is making the right choice by making Battle.net a much more inviting place. The changes they have announced make me feel better about playing with strangers online. I disagree with the decision to remove LAN play, but I'll live (given the changes to B.net). Accurate statistics about how many people actually use LAN play are virtually impossible to gather since it does not happen online. However, it is incredibly naive to assume that "no one plays over LAN" or "all LAN-lovers are cheaters/hackers/pirates/etc.". I've lived in several states and have always been able to locate Diabo 2 LAN parties; none of them ever condoned cheating. The reason many people believe that LAN players are hackers is the vocal group of hackers on the Internet who did use the LAN play to learn something about the multiplayer protocol. The rest of them were silent, just playing the game offline.

But here is a few:
RIP: Demon Hunter: lvl 50 | Barb: lvl 60 (plvl 5) | Monk: lvl12 & lvl70 (plvl 200)
Can't blame them for not doing it really.
In this day and age where virtually every gamer with a half decent computer will have broadband, why make the games LAN based?
Suppose for LAN places they will either need to purchase a license for X versions, but good on blizzard I say.
Heck, I didn't pay for diablo 2 and LAN'd, if there's no LAN, then more people will pay for it being a mostly co-op game
RIP: Demon Hunter: lvl 50 | Barb: lvl 60 (plvl 5) | Monk: lvl12 & lvl70 (plvl 200)
Just link you internet to the multiple computers, and have them all on the internet at once (which I'm sure you do anyway)
RIP: Demon Hunter: lvl 50 | Barb: lvl 60 (plvl 5) | Monk: lvl12 & lvl70 (plvl 200)
.... and very disappointed!
Or was it something else?
