you know how in diablo 2 there was stone walls or rocks around the areas you could go in? i was wondering, do you think d3 will be similar to that, where it is a very limited enviroment, or will it be like WoW, where you can go pretty much everywhere?
also, will you be able to jump in d3? i know it seems trivial, but as shown in WoW, it really changed the game.
i dunno, give me your opinion.

alright as for myself i have no clue but im gonna lean towards no, you won't beable to jump.. it's just not something that's really nessecary. boundaries, yes i think there will be boundaries but i doubt they will be as generic as they were in the previous versions but we're prob gonna see the fences and stone walls.
I'm not sure about the first question, but I can confidently say no to the second one. I think as of now the Barb is the only character who can "jump" with his Leap skill. If everyone can jump then that skill would be useless. I think, however, other characters will have their own modes of travelling over obstacle for exmaple the Wizard can teleport.
It is not likely that every class will have some form of crossing large gaps such as Leap or Teleport.
If there's an area that can only be crossed by Leap or Teleport, then it will probably be in an area that is only accessible to the barbarian as part of his class-specific quest branch.
It's once again a totally pointless thread! Obviously Blizzard will be making boundaries. Doubtfully will be making them as mundane as they were in D2. Most likely will be composed of Cliffs/Mountains due to the new 3D system that they are trying to show off and the vertical upgrade that D3 is getting. It's probably going to be (A la Tristram Dungeons) where you see paths walled with crevasses and lower levels instead of the linear corridors of D1/D2. Gives a new level of realism to the franchise.
Can characters jump? I mean do you really think of this stuff when your sitting at home doing nothing.....? I think you have too much time on your hands. I'll go with Hero on this and NO. The logic of the Barbarian skill would become redundant if all classes could jump around like rabbits. It just doesn't add to the gameplay value and honestly makes WoW look totally retarded when I see players jump around when Dueling.
I've seen jumping in 3D hackNslash on PS2 such as Baldur's Gate, and it was useless. You can't dodge by jumping, and you more often than not end up at the bottom of a cliff dead. So......

This isn't as dumb as it may appear at first. The barbs leaping ability is used to get out of or into the fray and going over big gaps. The jumping ability could be something where you couldn't jump over any mobs, making it not an escape skill in that respect. But you could make it so like in D2 act 1 you could jump over those little fences. Some mobs may be not agile enough to follow. This will make it so you use your environment a bit more to isolate mobs or escape if you back yourself up to a jumping obstacle. I guess think of it more like a vault skill, just used for getting over low obstacles like fences.
I do see where your trying to take the idea, Masterim, and I do give you credit for half trying to salvage the idea. However I still believe it to be useless in this scenario:
The Witch Doctor is getting swarmed, he is running out of life real quick and his pets are near dead. He sees a way out accross the room behind a table where the exit way lis leading out to a narrow corridor which would give him a strategical advantage in fighting the mob.
Now the WD has mainly two choices:
1) would be to jump over the table in the center of the room to try to cut off the main part of the mob and make a dash for the exit. (Nice strategic move but just not cool)
2) Use his skill Terrorize and send the mob running in a delirious frenzy which buys him time to skit accross the room, throw a flaming skull of doom near the table to set it ablaze and burn some of his frenzied enemies in the wake and with a few quick strides make it to the exit. (Now thats innovative and cool)
I'm thinking this is what Blizz had intended when they said they devised a number of character skills specificly made for strategic purposes like these. I believe it will add to the gameplay instead of giving the player a one trick pony to run out of tight spots. (Like Teleport from D2)
