Hey guys, I know this is totally nothing new but just a speech of freedom, if you will. ( stopped playing the game, probs 2 years ago)
Not that you guys have to care about my opinion but I might know some of you guys that share the same feeling as I do. So here goes:
1. Believe me when I say that I actually liked playing inferno, and the fact that 95% of the people can't beat it cause it's hard. But isn't that what separates the pros and the noobs? Or in this case the well geared and bad geared. Or the smarter guys that know how to bid and hunt auctions, and the ones that just blindly hunt down monsters without any purposes. Or the players that spend hours figuring out the quickest routes for essences for amulet(back then when amulet crafted was a thing) and the ones that play the games for fun. ( I get the idea that not everyone plays the game to win but to some, winning IS having fun) - in my case, sure I may not be the one that had the best gears in the world, but heck, in terms of the hours I put in, I am sure as hell, my gears are better than 90% of the people)
2. I agree that back then, the state of Diablo 3 wasn't perfect, but I did enjoy my time playing it. Why? Cause I like winning. I like the fact that I walk around with a well geared bidded 20billion character that I only bought for 3billion, cause of SMART bidding. I don't know about you guys, but I hate generalised game, in such I mean, the hours you play the game = the reward you should get. Tell me that I am not alone, because to me, right now, GR just seems so fkn stupid to me lol. I do have to agree on the real money auction house being removed, but then again, even if it was removed, because Diablo 3 is really mainstreamed , obviously people would still sell gold for real money, that's just fact. Sure it's pay to win, but paying to win doesn't make someone a pro. Back then, I remember the monk legend "invis" said after he got hacked that, " whatever man, gear is just gear, without them, I can still do t6 no problem" and he did.
3. When was the last time someone inspired you so much that you decided to reroll a character completely, because you watched his stream and you just see how epic he dodges attacks or how he execute his skills? Ye it happened to me , with a demon hunter called "theprohacker", yep, maybe you guys didn't know anything about him, but to me, he was the best demon hunter in the world, to the extent that, I rerolled a character just to play demon hunter and my love for dh began from then. I was originally a wizard and told myself I would not ever play any other classes. (In case you guys didn't know, rerolling meant, starting from absolutely scratch, there was no kadala, no cube, minimal power levelling and the hardest level was torment 6) you must know how much I loved his stream that I had to sell half of my wizards gear to afford the basic demon hunter gear to start off. ( all gold, no real money, I am all for play to win) People knows Athene but this guys beats Athene without any community support, which we know the reason why Athene could clear everything so easily was because he had a large amount of gold from the public, and this guy single handedly beat him without that.
3. I agree the original d3 up until torment 6 patch( or even after) , had its flaws, but there were the flaws that I could embrace but I don't think there is any going back for the current d3. People kept complaining about the fact that it's extremely hard and pretty much impossible to play t6, well guess what? It's just cause you guys are a bunch of noobs that don't know how to play the game. I admit t6 back then wasn't for everyone ( even theprohacker and invis said that, even if you were able to just beat t6 doesn't mean you should just farm t6 because it wouldn't yield the best loot result)
4. Like I said I understand the flaws of the original d3, and I know some aspects just completely breaks the game, like how real money auction house just completely breaks the game( realise I just say real money auction house and not gold), but who the fuck likes a game where everyone wins? Cause I don't, I hate a game when everyone wins, when everyone puts in the 2000+ hours, they are bound o get EVERYTHING in a game. That's broken. If you are one of those idiots that think the AMOUNT of game play hours that you acquire should always be proportionate to the quality of loots you get, you are an idiot. Yes, it should somehow yields you better chances of getting the best roll on everything but there is no guarantee, and isn't that also what makes it fun? The fact that you keep grinding for that perfect rolled calamity or that dream deadmans legacy, or that mempo with 6cc?
5. I am by no means saying that d3 vanilla was perfect but to me it was a ton better than what it is today. Too bad, I also know that d3 isn't just designed for me, rather the general public but it's just sad for me to see one of my fav games to turn into this pitiful shit. I can't even pretend I like it anymore cause I really don't, sorry to be honest.
6. You wanna know what I got from around 600 hours of playing that I could make some gold of, that I could call it significant? An innas temperance, with 8% as, and 80+ on both stats roll, that I sold for 500m. Errrr, if you think you were the only one that was pitiful and didn't get anything, you aren't the only one. Trust me when I say this, I considered myself to be better geared than most of the people, not cause I played the longest hours, it's because I had an optimal run for everything I do, I run the best route pioneered by "alkaizer" which I have a large amount of respect to, and hunt auction houses for top end gears. ( please do not mention to me that auction house is broken, I already told you I know that but I think there might still be better ways to saving the game than COMPLETELY removing it)
7. I don't know anything about d2 since the last time played it was 15 years ago or some shit, but what I really hate about d3 was that , u always only have 4 maximum people on a map. Even tho it's an MMO. Whenever I play, I don't see people walking pass me and it always seemed to be like it was an offline game but it's online??? Really? Online means playing with 3 other people? Cause fuck that, if a boss is hard, why can't we have 20 people playing to beat it? Why set it as 4 maximum people? Lol if you ask me, it looks ridiculously stupid.
8. Auto stats system? Unlimited paragon? Unlimited upgrades for most legendary gems? Extra socket? Lol really? Wtf is this? 5 years from now, there will be t999999 and it would still increase? What if I wanna play vitality based dh or wiz? Oh wait I can't cause I HAVE to be dps or ulitity? Lol unlimited paragon? I don't even know where to start. Why call it paragon, why not levels?
It has been a long journey of greatness and inspiration ,but also great amount of disappointment and pain, but in the end, I am glad to have liked d3 and proud to call myself a fan.
I present to you, the two epic videos left, to this day, still inspire me, lets relive the moments of epicness together:
They need to derive a peak of the mountain, a plateau that players can strive for. I feel that all in all, if you can see the peak of the mountain, you are excited, but when you climb over the clouds, and realize you are not even half way there yet, it is completely demoralizing!
I really hope that the 2nd Xpac brings more certainty and less infinite.
I came in here just to say that the season journey is one of the best additions to the game. It is a clear, achieveable, and challenging goal for players with a nice reward. Your topic title isn't really about that though
- Catering to consoles is the core of what irrevocably killed Diablo 3. It shaped the environments, it shaped all gameplay, it shaped itemization, it shaped the complete lack of a social aspect. There's no amount of content patching that will salvage this failure. Ever.
Sorry bro, obviously I don't know about the majority of the people but to me, seasons looked stupid and it still does. Why the fk would someone like season? At this very moment, I still fail to understand why would people like seasons. Because of seasonal rewards? Lol why separate d3 current population into half, just because of that. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't like the fact that my rewards that I have acquired gets overtaken by people that want to start anew/noobs that play the games casually just because they want to "feel something new". MMO like d3, if designed to be competitive, then maybe it should be competitive? If people want to reroll a character, they should just do it because they really want to try out a class or someone inspired them to. Not some stupid reasons like, "seasons force them to" correct me if I am wrong, but to some degree, majority of the people hated rerolling a completely new character. Majority of the people play a different class in seasons because they "might as well" roll a different class since they HAVE to start anew anyway.
No hard feelings. But to me season Is just "here are the new items but you need to play a new character to use it. Wow isn't that creative and amazing?" Not really.
Or the smarter guys that know how to bid and hunt auctions,
Auction house sucks. Trading sucks. Buying gear instead of finding/crafting it sucks.
I would be banned if I spoke what I think about people who encourage this shit in diablo 3. Probably would be called racist or antisemitic or similar.
Anyone who love trading should go and play monopoly.

Based on your speech, MMO shouldn't have any sort of market , because having this feature is considered stupid, and because of that ,people who like it should go and play monopoly. So am I right to assume that you only play street fighter or any sort of game that doesn't have a "market"? Enlighten me. I already said this and I will say it again. I admit there were flaws with the auction house, but people have to agree that completely removing it ,is utterly stupid.
Believe or not, I never ever played Street Fighter. And I played enough trading based games both on pc/wp to see how wrong is the concept of "I just found epic staff of instant_kill, let me sell it for 500 gold and 37 silver" instead of using what you found. We have a lot of trading bs irl 24/7 so being able to keep that crap outside game is the best thing blizzard did to improve D3. At least for me. If you love trading so much it must be sad for you to play D3 now. Can't pay to win, can't buy your way to the top, can't show how smart you are compared to regular grind/kill/kill player.
Also, you might have not noticed, but D3 is not MMO. Maybe with next expansion we get few more classes, like Necromancer, Druid, or even Trader. Then you might find D3 enjoyable again, who knows.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Season 6 barbarian solo sc EU grift 85 12m 23.199s MotE build
There was no torment difficulty in vanilla. There was a monster power (1 to 10).
You said you stopped playing 2 years ago, so how can you complain about the game that you didnt really play ?
People like seasons because they like fresh start, not because of some items (fyi seasonal players don't get any new items now). Seasons are old idea from diablo 2.
Current version of D3 has ofcourse some flaws and issues but still its a years better game than vanilla D3.
About mmo's and market: biggest mmo called World of Warcraft doesn't allow people to sell most of gear. Stuff you obtain from dungeons/raid is soulbound to you mostly, so no you can't buy all the gear from ah. Sure you can trade mats, and some boe gear, but thats all.
Iperish90 you said that you didnt play diablo since 2 years. Did you really not? If so, you cannot judge the game from theory alone. That is just stupid.
Play the game for like 3 weeks intensively and you will see if you like it or not.
I played D3 also form the start and for me it just got better. I loved the auction house and the difficulty but how the game is now is just better
I mean we have legendary affixes that are better than yellows and can think about how to gear a char instead of just Using yellor items with the best crit crit life% on hit values.
Just play the game and then argue. And maybe then you will also see that seasons are good and why. (i just read the first 4 sentences of your post).
I just fished out one post about inspireing by other players. This happenens each season to all of us. One player finds out a new build and gets like 5 GR levels higher with it. Lets take the example of the LoN build for DH. Wudjo came up with this insane build. And you know what? if you want to do this build you also have to reroll. Because you have to first get the new items (which is not as easy for that build because secondaries also have to be certain values and have to be ancient) and then put new gems on it. To gem your gear up costs so much time 13x levle 80 gems. Its like a complete reroll a e.g. d2 character.
So now i ended up writing a lot of crap. But i will say the one important line again. Play the game and then start a discussion.
edit: You whine about the game being online only. You know why this is the only option for a competitive game right?
And you know what brings bag streamers and players? new season starts! its the greatest thing. Because u know you are not alone starting from scratch. sometimes you want to start a new character (lets say without getting carried in 20 mins) but the feeling is so nice when everyone of the world does the same thing. In the day and week you see an insane race for the "who is the first who does XX". Then the game transitions into the farming. It is also nice because if you play one char one season. and change the next season. the season after the old char will be played completely differently because of setchanges.
2) Actually hard and rewarding difficulties (inferno, here we go)
The first being more important above everything. And auction-house started killing loot hunt since the very beginning.
Biggest mistake #1: auction house, real money or not.
Biggest mistake #2: increased drops. Loot hunt does not exist now.
Ye, thats right. But i think they somehow improved the loothunt a bit for some cases. For example to gear up the lon cruisaderbuild is not that easy. If they could invent something like this for each class and maybe improve it this would be nice. But as u assid maybe the better option would be to keep it like how it is but that you just see 1 legendary per hour. It is nostalgic to remember the times when the star was on the minimap and the heart started to beat a little bit faster ;D.
Auction house sucks. Trading sucks. Buying gear instead of finding/crafting it sucks.
Agreed. And that's the first (if not only) reason why RoS is way better than vanilla : getting rid of that idiotic AH allowed the players to focus on the important part, aka playing the game.
Sorry bro, obviously I don't know about the majority of the people but to me, seasons looked stupid and it still does. Why the fk would someone like season? At this very moment, I still fail to understand why would people like seasons.
A fresh start appeals to a large number of people, especially when there are rankings. Lots of people used to (and some still do) play D2 ladders, for that exact reason.
Don't like it? That's your right, just don't play them. Don't get it? Your loss. Finding it stupid? Your problem
I for one enjoy the opportunity to restart a new character from scratch, without the accumulated items of god knows how many patches, and the season journey has been a welcome addition to that. The objectives are reasonably challenging and definitely achievable for a casual, non-competitive player - heck, I wish my managers could be half as good when they define my SMART objectives!
You guys are fkn awesome, I love your opinions, (no trolling, actually serious) agreeing the flaws and also the fact that auction house were in fact broken, which I agree already but I just seem to disagree them completely removing it tho?
Thing is, I really don't like how they keep scaling every classes. Back in season 1, I remember clearing something like GR 50 and felt proud but right now it's on 95.... That's ridiculous lol.

Eh, power creep needs to exist, otherwise people will be destined to repeat the same path over and over every season with no progress. One issue is brought by the sets which are not balanced and everytime Blizzrad brings the others on par, potentially making another op build that needs to be dealt with and so on.
If anything, i'm full pro a collapsing of the game difficulties since i think we have a lot of redundant ones and remove normal rifts completely so people wouldn't have to farm for keys (very boring activity) and loot/xp is anyway rewardided from running greater rifts.
Seasons are technically a substitute for power creep. D2 has not seen a power creep for many years yet those who even play it regularly have the feeling of progression.
Hey guys, I know this is totally nothing new but just a speech of freedom, if you will. ( stopped playing the game, probs 2 years ago)

Agreed. And that's the first (if not only) reason why RoS is way better than vanilla : getting rid of that idiotic AH allowed the players to focus on the important part, aka playing the game.

Nice vids OP, moar?
I have huge nostalgia about dh being able to heal himself through lifesteal on boss fights
