"We could drop health orbs at some percentages of the creature's overall life and that's what we do with rares and champions, actually. So those guys (a sort of mini-bosses) get a chance to drop health orbs, when you're fighting them."
Jesus christ, the more i read from this guy the more it sounds like hes doing his OWN PERSONAL game with everything HE likes...Just because he doesnt like health potions, doesnt mean that the majority agrees with him and that he has the right to totally destroy something that was very important to the Diablo 2's combat. Im still in shock...at first i supported this dude...but this is too much. ITS NOT YOUR GAME JAY STOP MAKING PERSONAL DECISIONS.
That idea seems like the same as many here at the boards already pondered about when some people were asking "what about healthorbs and boss fights?"
It makes boss fights interesting.. instead of potting as long as you run out and then go to town get some more and pot again and keep hitting the boss.. you actually need to do some real damage on the boss in order to get your life up again.
I think majority agrees about health potions being relied too much in D2 so sftu.
If you need to keep chugging potions in D2 you just suck. I guess D3 will be too challenging for you because there is no easy mode.. maybe you should skip the whole game so you don't have to cry mom when you die because of the lack of skill.
Another of these whiney idiots who join just to sprout off. Always negative, nothing really positive to contribute to the board.
Piss off if that's your only style.
You think one person - Jay - has total control over all decisions and makes them in some kind of wanky bubble utopia, shut off from the real world?
Get real idiot.

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
AHHHH CHANGE.... KILL IT BEFORE IT SPREADS.... LETS SPOUT PROFANITIES AND START PETITIONS AND USE ALL CAPS.
also for some reason that link just leads me to this thread....
and there is another thread with all the same info
and make a thread titled "mommy didn't warm my milk and tuck me in last night" and post all your complaints there please so we can have a mature constructive conversation.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
Agreed, a consolidated complaints thread would be good.
And every new member must post there.
Or else they are just being lame Diablo fanbois like me.

Hmm, that's odd. I see him use "we" a few times in this quote in regards to decision making, but I don't see "I" used anywhere...
I wouldn't call chugging potions an important part of combat either. More like a broken part of combat. That was easily the worst healing system I've seen in any game I've played. Period. I like the ideas of potions being more of an "oh shit" sort of item used when the health orbs just won't cut it.
