Did anyone notice that when u look at the world map it shows allsort of locations and towns but in d2 after you kill mephy in kurast you go down to the pandemonium and then to harrogath and thats it so does this mean that in this one well explore more of the world of santuary and less of hell or what?
sorry if there is a thread on this already and if my spelling is off.
Few people have gone to Hell and returned, and ever fewer of them are decent cartographers. Hence there are few if any maps of Hell.
Also Hell is primarily a mas of moving lava. It's always changing.
We will go to Hell in D3, it's kinda like the Diablo thing, you go there in every game, even if it is only for 1 stage. Like Tristram.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I would imagine hell could be accessed from many different points throughout the realm of sanctuary not just one entry point. Demons are all over, chances are they don't commute.(you know, eco-friendly and all) Basically I feel that we may see the bad place several times or even different section of it. 7 levels of hell in Dante's inferno, I think. That is a lot of places to visit.
Most commonly Hell has 9 geographical areas, based on the 9 levels of the inferno from Dante's Inferno.
Hell in Diablo 1, and Hell in Diablo II were quite different almost so to the point where they were hugely different areas, thus it is possible there are 7 other areas we have not seen.

Well, a Diablo game without a single sight of Hell would surprise me quite alot, though I think Daemaro is right saying that most of it will happen in the Sanctuary, since it's ultimately the area you want to protect.
Now a little excursion in Hell for a payback isn't excluded...

If that's so, why did Mephisto have to prepare a portal to Hell in the Tower of Travincal?

I think you were thinking of the 7 deadly sins. Dante envisioned 9 levels of hell.
if blizzard could get rid of hell, why do I have to sit through mass every sunday? /scratchhead
If don't want to see hell, you clearly playing the wrong game. I'd stay away from Dungeons and Dragons too. It has Nine Hells. Just Like Dante's Inferno.

In D2 we took a portal to hell, so there wasn't any connections to the map of sanctuary there. But yeah fighting for Sanctuary in D3 and perhaps similar way to hell trhu portal or maybe somethign going on in Arreat Crater.. opened way to hell?

D1 I walked to a reddish crevice in the ground to get to hell.
Theres no doubt we'll be going to what is now the Arreat crater. I personally am excited to see what it looks like
Yeah isn't it in the trailer where those 2 seriously cool guards are watching out for the crater? Some kind of guard post arranged by (cain? angels?) to watch out for the crater if something weird starts to happen around there.. imo that was quite amazing part in the trailer
I don't want to go make a whole new thread about this but does anyone else think the picture of Arreat Crater looks almost just like the worldstone or what's left of it?

Also, I think the reason they don't have a map of hell is because... who in their right mind would go to hell to map it in the first place

Well I don't think there are literally portals to hell laying everywhere I just think it's easier for weaker demons to manifest than stronger ones.
It takes a lot more energy and power for a greater demonic presence to come to Sanctuary I'd think.
Kind of like why the Thousand Pounder needed to be summoned but in D2 there are lesser demons all over.
