Some games which run on both DX9 and DX10 seem to launch a DX10 patch for their game when the game is well into release. Maybe Blizzard will follow a similar approach?
I can totally see that and I am all for that. Let us get our hands on it and then add support for DX10.

I think thats the only way you would see any DX10 support.
This article is just another one of the bullshit run of the mill articles that Inquirer often writes from time to time. Judging from the interviews at WWI, it sounds as if they don't even plan to support Direct X 10, much less DX10.1 or whatever. And according to VE3D, they want the game to be accessible to a large number of players, so the requirements are going to be very reasonable. The game's been in development for four years, they're not gonna botch it up by remaking it for DX10.1
Well I could kind of see them throwing on DX10 support well after release, but it's really a pain in the ass to implement, and especially pointless if it doesn't really add much. There's not much that you can do with DX10 that you can't manually code with DX9, like depth of field, motion blur and smoke effects. Sure, Crysis uses DX10 for them, but Call of Duty 4 has the same features with comparable quality that don't require it.

This one made me wonder... They're talking about DX11 and Windows 7. Why the hell would they remake the engine they have for that? =X
