Hey guys! I just had something I wanted to check on idea because it is something that is rarely discussed.
Will Diablo Three be colorblind friendly?
There are 3 main type's of color blindness, that actually affect more of the male population than you may realize.
I won't bore you with the facts but the most common type is a red/green deficiency and research suggest anywhere from 8%-15% of males have this heritability.
Many game developers have absolutely no consideration for this and end up programming colors and shades in key places like graphics and menu's, that many of us are unable to see/ or have a lot of trouble making out.
I recall playing some games for my 360, my bro is like "how can't you see that" and I truly can't because of my colorblindness.
With more and more gamers in today's world I say that all games should be colorblind friendly, which really is not a hard goal to accomplish. Unless you are a tritanope.
Something I hope the designers will consider while making Three.
Screw color blindys!!!!We dont need 'em! Horrible enough for you yet?

Wow I never thought of that ..... Why can't the programmers make games more Blind friendly... I mean poor people they can't see where the menu is.... even worse, they can't find the remote control to open the TV!
No but seriously, can you imagine the amount of time it would take to tune a game that took 7 years to make so people like you can play it? It's just insane.... not to be rude but I don't think it will happen, ever.

It is obvious you are far too ignorant on the subject to make a suitable response.
It would be FUCKING easy to tune a game for the red/greenies. But not for the yellow/blue's which only .05 of the population are subjected to.
One day, in the very near future, you will see a symbol on the package of every game noting that it is color blind friendly. mark my words, there is far to many people with the red green deficiency for it not to happen.
Insightful as this topic may be, it is still only one of the many things hindering our society.
If you're color blind then change the universal color settings on your computer. Not the game
For NVIDIA cards, you can change "color profiles" and whatnot, interesting stuff which I've never utilized, but it would solve all your color-blind problems at once
A game's a game. They make it the way they need to make it. They aren't going to color Diablo green just so color blind people would see him. I know this sounds harsh, but come on, it's like complaining that a blind man can't play video games. Just some things can't be done.
Maybe they can release a second version of the game, but chances of that are pretty low as well.

This is only temporary!
and doing so will end making the game look horrible is most cases. Trust me I know! (you can now see the hill in background but now the river is pink)
Although it does help immensely, it would be far more simple to just use the proper contrast ratio, and color selection from the beginning.
There is very few color choices that will result in a R/G deficient not being able to see something properly. In other words it is very difficult to program a specific set of shades or colors that a red/greenie will not be able to see. In all my years as a gamer I have seen this occur only a few times. ( where I was not able to properly identify something) It is a very small (but important) step that designers can take to ensure EVERYONE enjoys the game.
You're right! I mean, c'mon! They have now two projects that they (Blizzard) are currently developing (Starcraft II and Diablo III), I don't think they will make another version of the entire game! I believe that the percentage of those people that do have problems with colors is still lower that the other!
you guys are just too smart for me. I KNOW HOW TO READ!!!!!!!!!!
most people blow it way out of proportion, then they are like "wow, it's only a very small difference" unless you are one of the .05 with blue/yellow.
You know, once I had a surgery on both legs since I had an extra bone growing in my foot. It sucked a lot: it hurt, I sat around the whole day, and I couldn't do ANYTHING. So at first I just complained and complained, but then I realized that in the 6 weeks I had to recover to even walk, complaining doesn't help at all. Everyone shouldn't make sure I should be able to do everything you want to do, because sometimes you can't. So what did I do? I sat on the computer and learned how to write a website and wrote novels. Because sometimes, there are things you just can't do, no matter how you try. And these are one of those things.
My brother can't tell a difference between a shade of light blue and white and also is unable to differentiate certain shades of yellow from green and vice versa. But I don't believe this can in anyway impair his gaming experience (except when he plays Zuma).
I doubt it would be too difficult to make the game colorblind-friendly but as widespread as the condition seems to be.... you are the first person to complain. Think about that.
P.S. @Dauroth: They are developing four games, not two.
yes i had a friend that was color blind named tyler and he told me he just see's differant shades of grey although there are differant types of it
no blizzard is not going to color the blood blue just so someone thats color blind thinks its blood as a matter of fact they could give half a shit about any of us.
we all no they are here for the money and that would be a retard investment

it sounds to me like you are a whiner, who gave up at first site of downfall.
it is ignorant people like yourself, the sole reason the human race is in the shape it is in today.
Not willing to accept INEVITABLE change, only makes you fall behind. The fact that you are ignorant to the facts of this one topic shows me that your are one of these drone like people.
IF YOU BOTHERED TO DO ANY RESEARCH... you would see that many major developers of not only games , but websites, advertisements and anything really in general are taking the necessary steps to correct R/G deficiency in society today.
I will agree they will never completely correct the problem, but they can definitely fix 95% of it for most, many companies have realized this and are implementing the proper changes.
If you disagree with this than you disagree with the stone cold facts.
Get with the times please before you post so ignorantly!
When you see the little picture of the eye with multi-colors inside of it you will accept that you are wrong, and hopefully open your mind to the unknown.

This was a mindless insult on me which I felt made no sense, even though I saw a couple points in there somwhere. I am done talking to you on this topic, since you are obviously in a state of rage. When you calm down, we can talk.

Thinking like yours, is the reason technology is hindered.

you like most of the posters in this thread are very ignorant to the facts so here is a link, if you really want to know.
