I've been checking the monk builds. None of the top ranked builds (or at least the those that I've checked) have increased skill damage, like +15% more Wave of Light damage. Why is that? I've always thought that these kind of enchants were the most powerful. I'm using the GR50+ Torch Setup (http://www.diablofans.com/builds/835-quin69-gr50-torch-setup) build right now, w/o any +skill enchants and it works way better than my other classes. The other classes use builds I made myself, before I found this site. They are packed with +skill damage and they suck
So, my question:
- Why are no builds using +skill damage enchants
- is it ever advisable to use any of the +skill damage enchants (maybe pre level 70? or maybe on specific classes/builds)
because skill damage is additive with itself, and it requires a few slots to actually get any noticeable increase in output, also, in order to get some specific skill enchantments, you must give up key stats on items that you really don't want to be giving up, like on chest for example, you are forced to drop one very key defensive stat in order to get a skill bonus, not ideal.
I had a look at that build quick, and I guess the answer is easy:
Monk is a melee class, and you will take a lot of damage. So, stacking survivability and cooldown (epiphany) is needed to survive.
Sadly, the pieces that come with skill damage, need other stats on them, so you can't put skill damage on. While your damage would be higher if you do, you'll probably can't do damage since you have to run.
You could use it on lower difficulties, but since this build can do higher difficulties, damage should not be the problem. So, not needed again
Other classes, mostly the ranged (dh, wiz, wd), go full dps, and do use +skill damage. They don't really have damage mitigation skills or things to improve toughness a lot, so they go glass cannon, try not to get hit and put as much damage to the mobs to kill it before it kills them.

In short: No place to put it.
Quins optimised rolls for cool down and toughness. For high GRs its needed, although at the cost of skill damage
