and since most of you prefer post to video I thought I would make the post as i felt it raised very valid point : all credit for these idea goes to Chainer1988
first would be on the boss fight in GR
as it is now there is 2 main issue with the RG fight,
- the RG can still spawn outside of view, and you have to run around sometime forward sometime backward to find it (who said waste of time), introducing an unnecessary level of RNG in the competitive environment that GR is suppose to be.
- the location of the fight, can be in very tight corridor or a large room, where at high GR level might mean passing or failing that rift.
this 2 point really make these fight uneven from GR to GR, in the video they mention the following solution :
introducing a boss room for GR fight, in my mind something like the room where the Mathael fight take place would be ideal.
Upon completion of the progression bar, it would open a portal, that would lead you to a specific boss map (could be one for each boss type , a bit like Uber boss fight if an element of diversity is needed).
this will normalize boss fight, an would be a very needed improvement over the current systems.
please let me know what you think.
in the video, Chainer raise a separate point about ancient items, even though Blizzard explicitly said that ancient items are not mandatory, and it is true to an extend as the extra stat on most piece of gear is a nice improvement but not really game breaking, a nice roll non ancient set piece will still make me jump of my seat.
Unfortunately that's not the case for ancient Weapon, where the difference in damage is so big that basically any non ancient weapon is a straight conversion to FS.
the suggestion of bringing the damage on non-ancient on par with ancient with only the main stat part being an improvement, seems like a perfect fix as it would bring back the enjoyment of seeing that BIS weapon drop on the floor, being a Furnace a Torch or a blade of prophecy rather than the praying that it would roll ancient as it is now....
Agreed with his view on ancient weapons. I also agree with his points on GR RG fights. I think the "Boss room" idea is quite good. Increasing all damage of non ancient weapons by ~20% could be a solution but i'm not sure.
However, I would have to disagree on the GRs part from. Apparently, on softcore its easy, but it would be quite deadly on HC.
I, as a wizard, need a lot of room to kite the Guardians and, sometimes I end up staying on the other side of a pillar, rock, wall etc. that gives me the chance to avoid some of the deadly attacks. In a small room, such as the one you're describing, RGs such as Bloodmaw, would oneshot most people.

I only play HC only and I ear you
but it feel very gimmicky to me when as a DH or Wizard I have to try to block the RG behind some obstacle for that fight that's why I was mentioning mathael room which to me is fairly large as it offer space to kite around and still being in the line sight of guardian, at the moment as a DH or Wizard spawning the RG in room like that one in cathedral map (same design as the one where you can find the mushroom in story line) with a corridor on 2 side and 2 door ways is quite a painful experience...
Yeah, but some of the RG's have AoE abilities that cover an area that is pretty much as large as the room you're referring to...
Yep, Blighter came to my mind immediately.
If it would be an "RG arena", it should have at least some pillars and stuff so you can tactically use them to your advantage, and bigger than the Malthael fight place.
hi guys
I came across this you tube video today :

For the first point about the rift guardian. This has been fixed in patch 2.2. Rift guardian will now always show on the map
thanks for the info, even though I play everyday, I must admit I didn't try the latest PTR, having to wait 1h00 to create a game kind of put me off
Yeah. its stupid. It wasnt that bad yesterday night and it might be better now aswell. I got in on t6 instantly last night on ptr

No offense, I like Chainer. But...
Randomly taken from youtube comment;
''Yeah...remember the times when you dropped ancient furnace in the first few days after the patch? ancient weapons weren't so bad that time,"
I do agree on the ancient items part.
