Howdy friends, I'm in a bit of a funk. I'm asking the community for a bit of help. I've mained a Wizard since launch of RoS and really enjoy the class.
I used to run an AT build with over 60% CC and almost 100% increased arcane damage and was cleaning out almost any map so fast but wasn't surviving past T4. Ever since I've been trying different builds, reading forums, sites and experimenting in game.
I got lucky with finally getting a couple Vyr's pieces so combined with RRoG I now have 4pc Vyr's. Unfortunately it drops my toughness down. I'm now under 10mil tough before EA. I also got lucky with a really nice trifecta magefists so I figured fire is the way to go.
I'm struggling to find the right synergy. I've got over 40% CDR now a nice mirrorball and decent gear that imo SHOULD be able to do t5-6 but I can't...
You have a valid point. Does seem to be a 50/50 build now that you mention it but it's one of the highly recommended builds I've researched.
I will consider maybe loosing Archon and maybe just focusing MM-Conflag but that makes for a very plain build which with a very repetitive game might get boring fast. I've seen video's with people only using MM and based on my experience it gets annoying quickly.
I also might just go back to arcane. The reason I went fire is because I noticed most Wizards now are fire because of magefists but doesn't make sense to use a different element for just one piece however they referred to using a Cindercoat as well. Perhaps with a nice Cinder I could play a meteor build?
That being said, after reviewing your build I have learned something valuable. Using arcane Archon and not using magefists and using a 3rd Vyr's MIGHT give me what I'm looking for. Thanks for your post. You gave me something new to work towards.
I'd say most wizards are going fire is because it offers an amazing signature spell outside of archon. And I tend to repeat myself by stating everywhere that MM - conflag is OP atm.. Making fire-spenders hardly worth the spell-slot.
@coxl, How do you manage to not run out of arcane power with only 4 APOC and no cost reduction?
im sorry if that's a rly stupid question cuz wizard is my second char and i've only played arcane in RoS but can someone pls explain to me how come MM build is working on t6 if that's like 150% weapon damage skill? Also what build is better for solo play on t6, considering you got bis gear for either, AT-Archon build with 4 Vyr/4 tal rasha/3aughild bonuses or this conflag magic missile fire build?
with mirrorball it hits 3x and stacks conflag and ignite 3x each giving insane dot and crits.
what build should you play? whatever is more fun to you. ive tried both and personally prefer AT-Archon with 4vyr/3augh (no 4 tal because of moonlight ward and harrington belt)
I think it boils down to gear and play style. Whatever you have that benefits you more. I only went fire because I heard so many people talking about it and because of the extra piece of gear but now I'm seeing people using Vyr's gloves and even Firebirds. It seems that either are viable but depending on gear and play style.
I was hoping for some build suggestions. Can y'all offer some builds and or video's that demonstrate fire with MM-Conglag that is better than arcane with AT? I personally found AT and high crit and elemental damage to be VERY effective but not great for higher torment. Perhaps was a problem of toughness?
@ COXL, how much minimum CDR would you advise for using Archon? I worked hard to get 41% or whatever and that didn't seem to be enough. Besides getting the CDR set pieces which would drop survival and damage.

isnt it supposed to be : gloves, boots pants - vyr; helm, chest, off-hand tal rasha; shoulders bracers - aughild? I honestly dont care about "fun" in wizard builds because its not my main character, so just playing wizard is fun for me, but i need to know what kind of gear to build/gamble for so im asking if anyone knows for sure which build is better - AT-archon arcane with said above setup or fire MM with mirrorball, yes i know the typical answer that i should choose build depending on gear/rolls that i got, but considering you have all the items for either build, what is better?
Ok well with passives I was @ like 42%. I think my problem is the current Vyr's I have is such a loss in toughness from my Rasha's chest I just need to replace it. Until I can get a suitable replacement I'm stickin with straight MM, TP, Nova, BH, MW and Prismatic with no spender. Seems to be working ok in party.

i run vyr boots pants gloves. tal rasha chest source. aughild helm shoulder. strongarm bracer. WH or harrington belt (depending on rift or how many ppl are fighting me for clickables). like someone else said i never run out of ap unless its a rift guardian, but in that case just make sure you spend all your ap on at first, then archon (so your ap regens while youre in archon), THEN go back to at.
i find that this build is better overall, but mm conflag is better for RiF/RGs/Ubers. that is probably biased though since i straight up dont find mmconflag any fun at all.
Thanks for your suggestion. I already tried that build. With slightly different gear but I found myself running out of AP way too fast and that's with paragon put into cost reduction and rather low aps. My Rasha's chest and ias in my gloves and ring probably don't help but either way it's a good build but just doesn't work for me. Thanks anyhow.
@giterdun yeah you definitely need lower attack speed. The key though is 65%+ crit chance and 4 AP on crit on your tals orb. It makes all the difference. I run the same build as odojas, but my gear rolled much worse than his. I too was struggling with AP for a while, but once I hit that 65% threshold and had 4 AP on crit on my tals orb, all is well in the AP land. The build kills quite fast in t6 and I can solo any combination of packs just fine. It is a super fun build too IMO.
@ Frosty, that would make sense. I've had about 62% CC before so I can see how the 4 APOC would help keep it alive longer but I just can't make it fit. I've got too much ias on my gear. Right now I am workin on my fire build. I've played arcane for so long and I'm really into playing something different right now. The video and post by Jaetch for his fire build is what I'm aiming for right now. Unfortunately some of my gear is rather weak so I'm farming T4 for shards and gear to improve what I have.
I borrowed a setup someone posted in a different thread, which is the basic mm/conflag archon but with molten impact instead of blackhole. I have strongarms but have been using aughild's bracers anyway, so dropping BH was not a big deal. The lack of CC is made up for by the fact that molten impact tends to kill elites before they do any real harm. Arcane dynamo is a must, and I really find it fun to play with tal's 4 pc bonus because the meteors get a 60% buff when molten is still on CD. Also frost nova-bone chill... The routine, when encountering elite, goes as such: stack AD to 5, molten impact, bone chill, archon bust. Most elites in t5/t6 should be dead or near dead at this point.

MM Conflag is hardly OP. It's more like the only adequate free DPS dealer, and ONLY because of Mirrorball. 600% ish weapon damage that pierces is still very low rent - compare that with Crusader's 1700% Heaven's Fury that does the same thing.

The site takes a while to update so it still shows my Rasha's chest instead of my Vyr's.
I know there are a lot of opinions and some people agree more than others. Any advice is really appreciated. Thanks
I am currently debating using a spender or not because with over 40% CDR my Arcon is almost going to be always up.
The build I use is EA-Prismatic, MM-Conflag, Archon-Combust, MW-Force, Nova-Cold snap and debating a spender or using Black Hole.

T6 solo clear times are between 8-10 minutes.
