So blizz hasnt released what they are going to do with the set bonus when 2.1 hits, but we know that it is being changed. What do you think it should be? Here is what I would like to see:
2: +500 int
They could raise the int, but 500 is a nice boost and if the other two bonuses are right there is no real NEED to raise this.
4: You are immune to all fire damage. Fire damage also replenishes your health for 75% of the damage you would have taken.
This could be changed to replenish man as well, but wizards have an issue with being squishy, especially with bad rolls on gear. This would allow you to swap out deflection or prismatic armor if you so desired and still have some way to heal. For a change, standing in the fire would be a good thing!
6: Enemies killed by fire damage explode, doing 50% of their life as damage to all enemies wthin 10 yards. Enemies not killed by the explosion are set on fire and burn for 200% weapon damage over 5 seconds.
To overcome the major elemental damage loss that would come from haveing a 5 piece set (with RORG) the 6 set bonus needs to be rather impressive. Basically its a wizard version of exploding palm. Combine it with black hole or a pull monk and its gg.
I thought they could just change it to a proc on every fire skill that you use.
Something like a ring of flame around you or a fireball that shoots in a straight path and explodes, or just an explosion on the mobs themselves whenever they are hit by any of your fire skills. Obviously they need to make the proc rate balanced but yeah, having it depend on whether the mob will die or not just makes it total crap imo. It needs to be direct dmg.
4p: I'd change the current molten impact on death proc to be be triggered by mob death (with lower cd) while keeping the self ress proc on its current form.
6p: Chance on hit to spawn a hydra (using whichever rune you have active, if none is active just the base spell)
I liked the chance to cast hydra on it idea. Firebirds would be cool if at the 4 piece it gave some bonus to fire damage since you really have to lose a lot by using the set in the first place.
Then for 6 piece "enemies hit by fire skills catch on fire burning all enemies within 12 yards for 300% weapon damage per second as fire. (Kind of like a note powerful and fire version of fulminators proc)
But something more fun would be "chance on hit to spawn molten hydra. (You can have no more than 2 molten hydras at a time, this number is not affected by using the the hydra skill). <- in this case you could incorporate serpent sparker and run 4 molten hydras. That could be fun.
The set is called firebird, so there needs to be some kind of Phoenix involved. Like if you die, you are reborn as a firey bird that explodes for 3000% fire damage to all mobs within 15 yards. Or something like that. I do like the idea of a fire ball spell though.
2p: the current 4p meteor
4p: +20% Fire damage (pretty meh, I know)
or
4p: Fire damage spells burn the enemy for an aditional x% over x seconds (WoW Combustion-like mechanic?) with a cool visual effect
6p: Killed enemies proc Wave of Force - Heat Wave centered on their location?
Looks underwhelming compared to other classes sets but it does have that unique immortality.
Personally I think the set should not compliment fire damage only, but it should rather be viable for at least one more element. And yeah, we lack a lot of synergy with other items at the moment so hopefully that will be sorted with the set bonuses.
2 piece and 4 piece is just a little gravy and they're fine as they are. My proposal for 6 piece... your illusions never die and do 50% of your dmg. Marauders, Zuni, IK sets have similar abilities. Wizards need a pet build. Just imagine, 4 illusions casting black hole and stacking MM all the time!
4p - When you die, a meteor falls from the sky and revives you. Every ~6 seconds when this ability is not on cooldown, a Meteor Shower is cast on your hero's location. (This would keep the set's current usefulness in hardcore, while also giving a bonus to players that aren't dying.)
6p - You are immune to all fire damage. Any time an enemy takes fire damage from you, there is a 50% chance that they erupt for 420% fire damage to all enemies within 30 yards. (This ability can trigger off of itself, causing chain reactions.)
At first glance these may seem a little strong but as others have said, it's a 6 piece bonus and this will just make it comparable to Jade, Marauder's etc.
Personally I think this would be really fun, and would allow the wizard to use fire skills other than MM, EB, etc if they wanted.

Thoughts? Ideads? Have fun!

Changes all fire based missiles, like MM conflagrate, or fire hydra projectiles, into homing phoenixes.
