Been messing around with this on the PTR Torment III - IV it's a little slow (Torment goes some way to making it worthwhile though with boosted XP) but alot of fun.
[Passives] Arcane Dynamo
Temporal Flux
Glass Cannon or Dominance / Blur (depending on EHP).
[Key Gear] Stone of Jordan: +Arcane damage %
Moonlight Ward: +Arcane damage %
Bracer: +Arcane damage %
Butcher Sickle: Pull enemy towards you.
Optional: Legacy Stone of Jordan with -5 Disintegrate cost.
NOTE: If you don't have a Butcher Sickle you can probably swap out Arcane Orbs for Teleport or one of the Armor spells. The one I found gave me nice +life on hit and was an upgrade overall so that's why I tried to make the most of it's proc with the Orbs.
[Strategy] [While Moving from group to group, literally only takes about 3-5 seconds or so]
Spam signature attack 5 times to get full Arcane Dynamo Buff.
Cast Arcane Orbit.
Spam signature attack 5 times to get full Arcane Dynamo Buff.
Cast Hydra (or have it ready to go once you find mobs).
[Fighting mobs]
Cast Arcane Mines in a line back towards yourself
Cast Disintegrate to apply Intensify buff and force them through the mine field/burn them down. If you do it right, by the time the mines have armed themselves, the mobs will have the +15% extra damage buff on them from your Disintegrate. This is your main attack.
Periodically your Butcher Sickle will pull someone into your face, your Arcane Orbs will make short work of them. If they survive use Spectral Blades to give yourself shield and take them down.
The bonus damage to elites from the 2 SOJ's will be over 50% depending on your rolls so these guys are toasted real quick.
Rinse repeat.
This build is so much fun to play, you can really be tactical and plan your attack. It is by no means the FASTEST play style but knowing where things will spawn allows you to make some awesome traps. There is alot of synergy too, all the spells are Arcane based, boosted damage from gear, utilizing proc from weapon (to use the Orbs), Temporal Flux keeps everyone slowed most of the time.
I've reset my game so basically have to play through the story again, with Torment keeping me on my toes I'm loving this build at the moment.
I use to run Arcano Dynamo but it doesnt do much in practice. On high Torment levels you're going to have reposition against tough elites so it doesnt stay up much.
And I even question the damage buff. I did some timed kills and it do anything. Did T4 Ghom kills with the following set up:
AT- disruption, Surge of power, stretch time 10% buff, Canooneer, force weapon, pin point barrier
Passives: Blur, glass cannon, Arcano dynamo.
I got around 16 to 17 second kills with or without AD, everything else the same.
I'm aware stretch time breaks the channeling. I'm casting it before I start channeling. 5 stacks up, cast stretch time (which doesnt eat up the stacks), then start channeling.
I'll admit, It is early days for me running this build.
The Arcane Dynamo part of it can get a little tedious but there really aren't any good damage boosting passives for 60 Wizards..
Besides the Glass Cannon one.. My argument for using Dynamo is if you aren't dying (on T3/T4 I have a death usually only due to my own laziness or a really bad affix combo) then there isn't much use in picking up any of the other ones.
Not sure if you missed it, but arcane dynamo basically no longer works with channeled abilities as of last patch. It'll eat your stacks, but not give the damage buff beyond the first tick.
I picked up on this I was mainly using dynamo to boost the Orbs and Hydra up.
But it is a little tedious lol I think I will just scratch it and go for something else.
Out of curiousity, has anyone noticed that slow attacks, eg Spectral Blade launch alot fewer Familiar:Cannoneer bolts than say something like Electrocute? Don'y know if that is intentional but by changing my Blades for Electrocute lightning streaks (the one that pierces @280% Weapon Damage) my dps went up heaps cos of the extra Familiar shots.
I'm thinking of running a Disintegrate wizard in RoS myself, actually. With resource cost reduction now available on gear and paragon points, and APoC still (in lesser quantities) available, I think it should (still) be possible to spam it. I have no access to the Beta so I cannot confirm this. Do you know?
It looks tempting but on the other hand I'm afraid they will nerf it as soon as they find out it's really spammable. After all, they said repeatedly that they want you to use a mix of primaries and spenders, saving up your AP for when you really need to nuke (which is always, that's the flaw in their reasoning imo).
On the PTR, with a -5 disintegrate SOJ, power of the storm, and 9 apoc I'm able to spam it almost forever. I dont run a generator.
I never understood why players select two channeling skills at once. You can't channel two skills simultaneously and in order to get the most out of a channeled skill, you obviously try your best to keep its uptime at 100%.
Shielding is also buggy right now in that it gets taken out immediately if you suffer a damage total greater than a single stack of shield (regardless of how many stacks you currently have), so it makes no difference if you use Barrier Blade or Magic Weapon - Deflection. Also, if you're running Spectral Blade, when will you be casting your channeling spells? And which one? And you also have to cast Hydra, which takes an attack turn, unlike Arcane Orbit.
I think it's more worthwhile to take out one of the channeling skills, replace Spectral Blade with Deflection if you still insist on using shielding effects. To replace one of the channeling skills, I'd suggest Wave of Force - Arcane Attunement, which boosts your next arcane spell by X% per enemy hit by WoF. This effect snapshots with channeling spells like Disintegrate. If there are issues with AP, I suggest removing either Arcane Orb or Hydra in favor of Storm Armor - Power of the Storm.
Regarding the inability to snapshot Arcane Dynamo, it's a bug that has been confirmed via the stream with developer Don Vu.
Build doesn't make sense to me. If you run disintegrate, you pretty much want to be using it all the time, not using hydra with its remarkably low damage output. Arcane dynamo as some have mentioned would be better replaced with unwavering will, and black hole is going to be huge. Props for Cannoneer though, I LOVE that rune with disintegrate.
Wave of Force + Flux + Black hole (event horizon)would stand you in good stead against pretty much any melee or ranged mob in the game, but you'd have to do with a resource generator I think.

Absolutely correct. The only reason I experimented with Arcane Torrent - Disruption and Disintegrate - Intensify on the PTR (which I didn't know had a similar effect as Disruption) was to see if I could stack the debuff from both skills on enemies. Usually that involved spraying Torrent around, then laying down a sweep with Intensify, all the while my Hydra and/or Cannoneer was going.
Thing is, it was still really twitchy feeling. If I'm going to go that route, I'd rather just pick one of those two as opposed to changing back and forth.
As for spamming Blades to build Dynamo charges, yeah, I'm not too fond of that part. Feels exploity, even if it's not a particularly effective part of the build. Then again, it's not bad fundamentally. Personally, I'd rather build up some Armor, Life, Vitality, more Int/All Res, and other defensive stats so I can run a close-up Blades/Orbit/Mines build without needing to spam air, :-)
A little note I would like to add of something I noticed on PTR.
If you have both Arcane orb orbit and Moonlight Ward only the orbs from arcane orb will explode and the ones from moonlight ward do nothing. When I noticed this I did a quick test. I made sure I had 4 stacks from both arcane orb and moonlight ward. And simple stood next to an enemy to see what would happen. What happened was that first all 4 stacks from arcane orb would trigger and then the stacks from moonlight ward would trigger. And as the weapon damage from the moonlight ward is higher that arcane orb plus it's a free bonus, using arcane orb orbit is pretty useless and you can replace this with something else.
I have heard the proc on Moonlight Ward is just absolutely badass.
Loots, loots, loots...can't wait to get home and lay waste to bad guys!
There's no CMWW-like playstyle afaik, and your gear will mostly be reset so forget about the 70% IAS; don't hold on to stats too much. Try out all the spells and runes and just pick whatever spell you like, wizard spells are really well balanced. Pick your favorite signature spell, your favorite main damage spell, and then some supporting spells (buffs, utilities, or additional damage like Hydra/Blizzard). Some combinations work better than others, but as long as you don't do something ridiculous like 4 signature spells at once almost every build will somehow work. We couldn't say about the wizard in D3V... ;-)
Does disintegrate not crit? I find that it rarely crits, while if I use spectral blades it crits several times per second.
I found a +20% arcane damage amulet so I've been running an arcane build. I run an oculus offhand for APoC. I use disintegrate as the primary spell, spectral blades to refill arcane power, Archon, and then armor (the one with +arcane power), familiar, and magic weapon.
I I've been running this: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#URmSjO!UYh!YYcZcZ (disintegrate) with great success on live. While my gear I'm sure could support nearly any build; I'm mowing down t3 mobs before they can hit me and t4 Crypt mobs nearly instantly with Archon. I don't know how the build will fair at 70, at 60 it feel very powerful and is very customizable. Most of the skill choices pretty self explanatory; you can choose SHocking Aspect if you have lots of survivability and don't need Pinpoint; you can choose something other then Archon (though I recommend it to burn Elites down) If you haven't given it a try and crave something new, it's worth checking out. I find it a lot more fun then Torrent; Cascade.
You can also choose another passive; Temportal Flux and Glass Cannon synergise well, but the third one is up to you. I run Anamoly or Blur, depending on Torment level.
I was lucky enough to find a 26% Slorak's Madness as well. Sadly, it had no socket, but I imagine it would really set the build off and meltface.
