I will. It is slower, have to play more carefully which is not my style. Grouping in MP10 is better than solo. 3-4 Blizzards everywhere is a lot of DPS, really nice with a good group. THe other builds that can play MP10 well have nice synergy with this build. Problem is the people who play MP10 that cannot survive. I prefer MP9 for that reason.

Yeah I suspected it would be slower but it is viable since I've had a go at it myself recently. I play in group on MP10 with my friends so I know they can hold their own. I've been using a CMWW build which was working really well for them, but it gets boring repeating the button mashing process over and over again. I find that this build also works well as you said and I'm having more fun with it. Even on MP10 as soon as you take that first monster down and it triggers black ice, the rest of the pack just melt in it lol.
I do find that I have to kite the tank EP's though when playing solo (that's with 253k buffed dps). I guess the only way around that is get lucky to find better items that increase dps without sacrificing ehp.

My DPS is less...I am kind of in a gear quagmire as upgrades now cost a fortune for me and I only get to play 5-10 hours a week. Here is the video, the elites I have are particularly tough so I have to kite even more than normal but it is what it is. 229k DPS
buffed. 1st take as always for my videos, don't think its fair to find the perfect elites I can kill easily. I think I can kite well
Hey @Magusrex, I leveled up a Wizard this weekend and as soon as I got 60, I went to this Black Ice build and found it really nice and reliable (former WW barb and Acid Rain wd here).
I have a question about it since I got 60 saturday night and only played like 5 hours in Sunday, on MP5 with 140K (budget) buffed dps (Sparkflint, Pinpoint Barrier and Force Weapon).
- I chose to run with 1 handed black sword + Triumvirate because I couldn't find a good Skorn (I even bought one with 1.2k+ average damage, 4.5LS, 150% CD and int, but 1h+OH felt better) but I'm struggling, sometimes, to survive. I have like 1.1K LoH but I don't see life coming from Blizzard + RoF. i thought, at my geal level, that LoH > LS, but I don't know even if LoH is proccing from Blizz or RoF.
Other than this, I'm feeling pretty solid with this build. Never did MP5 on my barb or WD, and I'm managing it very well with my wizard, even thinking about making it my main character.
I have like 100M to try to upgrade it, but prices are so instable (and generally overpriced) that I get confused sometimes.
I'm at work right now and can't give you my armory's link, but my gamertag is cersoze#1265 and the wizard name is Veldrin (if it helps).
Thanks in advance, and sorry for any mistake, English is not my first language
No gear advice from me, as I'm not an expert at all. But I think your weapon is a good one, and overall your gear could use a rework. Since you are not using a slow weapon, you must remain with the Stormcrow or a source with APoC, and, if you can, increase your critical hit chance, so APoC procs more often.

Yeah, weapon could be better if it had LS, but whatever. ATM i'm at 19 APoC and 50% CC (buffed). I'll try to rework my CD. AP is not an issue really, survival is...but I guess it is because of my inexperience with wizards (leveled in 3 days I guess) and an issue with LoH.
Oh, I didn't see that your weapon is without Life Steal. This is a no-go for channeling builds like this one.
Life Steal works better for Black Ice, Archon and Disintegrate builds than Life on Hit. Life on Hit works better for WW-based builds. In special because Black Ice does a lot of damage, and it can recover a ton of life.
LS on Weapon + Magic Weapon with Blood Magic would improve your survival. More armor too. Should I suggest you to try Ice Armor / Crystallize for a while and see if you can survive a little more ?

I find the bolded statement a bit weird because Blizzard hits so many mobs that LoH should keep up with LS on low DPS gear, even if it was affected by some diminishing return (I really don't know if this happens in Diablo 3). I don't know what I'm missing, but, sometimes I think that LoH isn't working at all. I made a few tests yesterday (and I'll make more today) but while I was kitting (w/ Blizzard) some mobs, and I was at 50% health, I didn't saw any life recovery at all (have 1.1k LoH atm). That's very strange.
Yeah, I'll try Blood Magic + extra armor or damage reduction. My resists are pretty consistent (like 700 average) and a good chunk of HP/Armor too...and I don't even die THAT often...only on crazed affixes elites/rares.
Channeling skills do constant damage, and Life Steal does not suffer from "proc-i-ties", so you gain constant life in return. It works well with Blizzard (if you do some damage) and all channeling as the above.
Life Steal is also great with Archon, which is not the topic of this forum topic.
That said, I'd kindly ask for a bit of advice. Sadly I can't link my profile (new account t.t), but my question is: is it possible to use another helm other than Storm Crow? I use a LS Skorn so no APoC anywhere except on Storm Crow. I don't ever run out of AP but I'm pretty sure I would if I switched it for a dps item such as Andy or Mempo. It would even add attack speed >.>
If you switch out Storm Crow and replace it with a Mempo or Andy's that has attack speed then you will run out of AP against elites fast unless you have insane DPS.
I've been using this build myself lately and also experimenting with another build (it may not be new but I put it together on my own) which uses Disintegrate Chaos Nexus, Frost Nova with Cold Snap and Critical Mass. Still use blizzard, telport fracture and Force weapon with Prismatic armor.
I just frost nova mobs, cast a couple of blizzards and blast them with chaos nexus. This melts the Frost Nova cooldown and then just rinse and repeat. I find that I don't have to kite as much with this build and disintegrate travels through monsters and hits them all whereas black ice only hits one target. Both fun builds, but I find that I'm able to survive more in MP10 with the disintegrate build and it doesn't take as long to take down elites.
Biggest problem is Vortex in combo with arcane beams and frozen.
Hard to take this build seriously when no one seems to know how Frostburns or SoJ works with it. Actually, it's hard to take seriously because it's pretty terrible in Co-op play.
Got a better weapon and still crafting some bracers/gloves, but with weapon with LS i'm feeling very confortable at mp 5-6 (and I'm not even using Blood Magic).

Hey there.
First off - read the beginning of this discussion, also there's another thread somewhere here where magus and I started playing around with the build. we went over the frostburns and all that.
But if you can't be bothered - basically frostburns are great for beginners because they add 30% to your blizzard and RoF damage. Good crafted gloves will still be better but are hard to craft. basically if you earn more than ~30% of damage when you switch from FB's to crafted u know ur doing the right thing.
Same goes for that 1hand wep, ofcourse. I'd recommend to use a skorn, just because it's less heavy on AP and it ultimately does more damage.
SOJ's are a problem. I guess you could arm one on ya and use it against elites or ubers. I havn't really tried ubering with this build.

You can find the Proc Coefficients for all classes/skills here: https://docs.google....ZJcHdkN0E#gid=8
EDIT/Off Topic: Life On Hit versus Blizzard, an illustration:
If you have 1000 life on hit, and Blizzard's Proc Coefficient is 0.050, then you gain 50 life points per hit.
What I don't know is how many hits Blizzard ticks during its cast.

Still unanswered? Is it simply Frostburn's added DPS is 30% of your char sheet's DPS?
