did it with my barb easily, no loh, no life leech and no overpower, dont see the fuss really
People posting in the wizard forums how they killed ghom with a barb. Seriously. Ghom is an obstacle for ranged wizard on their 1st tries, other classes/melee specs can stfu as they down it for free.
because wizard can kite him endlessly and barb cant makes him harder for ranged? lol
if i used some "cheap" tactic such as using crap dps weapon with 900 loh or overpower with crushing advance rune i'd agree with you but wizards have it easy as the rest if that isnt the case so i dont see what you on about
Your ignorance is showing.
You cannot really "kite Ghom endlessly". It shoots gas ON you, and not next to it (I guess you never experienced it). Kite it from far away and the room will soon be filled with gas. You have to be next to it, which is, adequately, difficult for ranged characters.
Apparently you haven't read the video poster's own comment. He definitely found this method difficult to do. And he now does it in melee.
I agree he has crap gear though, but OP's problem tends to disappear with better gear anyway.
I killed Ghom last night for the first time as a melee CM wizard but to be honest I probably overgeared it for progression. 50+% crit, 300% crit_damage, 800+ LOH, 8k Armor, 27% block, 800ish resists buffed, 32k DPS. I wasn't progressing as a ranged wizard so switched last night back to a CM Melee spec. I basically slowly walked him forward (backward for me) to keep the cloud from destroying me. But I could stay in the cloud most of the time, there were just spikes that were a little hard. He went down on my first attempt.
I have since upped my block and lowered my dps while increasing my resists. Act3 still has some pain for me as I have issues when I deal with ranged mobs who have molten + arcane + frozen or jailer. Or a horde of big fat melee guys with molten and the champ with descrate on top.
Honestly, all these posts where people are acting like they are gamers forged by Zeus himself need to put the "high on me" juice away and actually acknowledge that if you don't take Ghom on with ideal gear, he is tricky at the very least.
The most important advice I can lend anyone trying to solve this guy besides spend millions on gear, is to use every inch of the outer part of the room to kite him along. It is important as hell to not just go in a basic circle around the room while kitting him around, but to take him deep in the corners and really hug the walls. Don't be complacent at all, the moment he does his little shake before he spews out his gas, start moving back.
If you use enough of the room to kite him along properly, you will notice that by the time you get back to where you started, the gas will be gone, sometimes when you are fighting him right before the spot you started the gas will still be there, but if you JUST used enough floor space it will disappear just before you have to move away from him. It may take a few tries to see the effect I'm talking about, but once you do you, know that your on the right track and probably going to defeat that smelly Jaba the Hut wannabe shortly.
Oh right, we're in the wizard forum.
