I am level 32, just picked up an 80 DPS weapon on AH. I have +damage on source, rings and amulet, and have a decent amount of +int. With glass cannon, magic weapon and sparkflint, my DPS is just past 1k.
The game is now basically just silly. I point disintegrate at something, it dies on contact. I can shift-click the exploding shock blast signature spell in a direction and just steamroll everything (2k+ crits). Only a boss or champion can withstand the first arcane orb (rarely the second). I can literally kill a story boss in seconds with Death Blossom / Mirror Image / Diamond Skin and take no damage. Granted I am still on normal and expect that nightmare will offer more of a challenge, but I really did not expect to just a-move my way through the end of the storyline, lol.
-1 for Bliz internal testing, guess we know why they never beat inferno /sigh
Lol. try nightmare, hell and inferno then youll change your mind
im doing 3.5K damage and some elites and bosses in nightmare kickd my ass.
Hell is harder but im enjoying every minute of it. (Still 1/2 in act 1 to go )

You know its going to be a good day when you enter a corner sideways.
its an interesting topic. im just mad about the MINIMUM level for hell. You HAVE to be 50. What bull shit. If you finish nightmare at 47 with some buds like i did, you dont wanna keep playing nightmare.
If you don't give a fuck, why did you start this thread?
For precisely that reason, lol. I play everything on highest difficulty and expected more from my first playthrough of a game that I have been eagerly awaiting; just seems to me that Bliz made an oversight by making high DPS values so easy to reach in Normal. Equivalent would be adding a short quest to Mass Effect games that quintuples all weapon damage and splash radius, or having Paladin Shields drop from regular mobs in FF6.
I thought it was a serious question about DPS, but then I saw that you were ranting on about it beeing too easy. Lost interest ^^
But I can say that you will need to pack up on a lot of dps and HP later on, I have 26k HP and 11K dps, and some elite packs just basically rapes me. So keep on hoarding gear ^^
Are you max level? I'm pretty sure that 20k+ is easily reachable, and would help you a lot more than that shield you probably tote around...
By the end of act 1 nightmare, 1k dps wasn't cutting it at all. Yeah, you can make normal really easy with the AH, but later on you'll just be making stuff possible.
Level 32 in normal with overgearing from the AH? That's like the level 13s in full crafted rares complaining the beta was easy. Nightmare got hard for me end of act 1 in a 4 player group, but i was playing day 1 and there wasn't as much good gear on the ah for cheap. Let me know how you do in act 3 hell.
As has been said before... Normal difficulty is basically balanced for someone totally new to the game with lousy gear to still be able to beat it. I understand the mentality that you don't want to rush through, but right now you're overleveled and overgeared for everything in normal. If you wanted more of a challenge you should've saved the AH for higher difficulties. I'm sure you will find more of a challenge at some points through nightmare. Once you get to hell, and especially inferno, you'll find even with the most ridiculous gear you can afford from the AH you'll get your ass handed to you a lot.
So yeah. The challenge is there. Blizzard just didn't want to make it so that new players were totally turned off by the game because of a very hard first difficulty. Try hardcore if you want some added difficulty.
Also, something I've noticed on the wizard especially.. it's pretty easy to get a high DPS, kill everything onscreen, and feel godlike, but the second your gear gets just a little outdated you're gonna get creamed. Other classes stay a bit more consistent I think,

I finished nightmare on my barbarian with 1.4k dps. I'm currently in Act 3 on the WD, at 1.5. Barbarian was having trouble in hell with a 2.5k dps after picking up a nice item in the weeping hollow. Not anticipating this problem with the WD.
Normal was only meant for up till level 30 with the assumption that your gear isn't great. I myself finished up Normal at lvl 32 as well. And was using the AH gear, that final battle was a bitch for me. You will probably have a much easier time with your current DPS.
But please don't start bashing Blizzard for something that is working as intended, especially since you don't seem to grasp the game design of the various modes.
PS. with over 1k dps, you're good through Act 2 of Nightmare. I would highly recommend co-op to make things harder. In theory co-op makes things easier but having champions/elites with over 300-400% hp really makes it a lot tougher.
I am level 37, just finished First Act of Nightmare (Butcher). My DPS (from the character screen) is only about 400. Is that absurdly low? (From the numbers people post, it seems I should be doing 1k at the very least?!)
I am just wearing stuff I find and what I can buy out in the AH for less than 5000g. Can I continue with this dps into Act 2 NM, and how do I increase my dps most cost-efficiently?
When you buy gear from the AH that doesn't drop in normal difficulty its gonna make your run super easy. By the end of act 4 normal you'll be lucky if you have a 60 dps weapon.
I strongly recommend picking up a pair of Level 48-52 rings and amulet with 40-75 of your main stat (int, dex, str) and +12-14% Increased Attack Speed. I'm still using them now in late inferno because of the ridiculous amount of damage they give me, which is about 3k damage a pop right now.
Of course, if you have access to better - use it! But don't scoff at the many cheap items you can get off AH that's quite frankly amazing for your current char level. That being said, you'll need all the DPS you can get your hands on when you start progressing through late act 2 - and especially act 3 and 4 on Inferno mode. Monsters have stupid amounts of health in multiplayer games there. I think I registered a pack of 8 million health blue mobs the other day in late act 2 already. XD

Seriously dude, you're playing EZ-mode and complaining that it's easy.....
It's about average for that level from what I've seen. You have nightmare gear with a few pieces of hell gear probably.
