I think the DH will be extremely strong, though it'll take a little more effort to understand how to ration out hatred and discipline well. But the payout after learning should be well worth the effort. The WD is another class that will be extremely strong. I think it's up in the air between those two.
DH doesnt have pets besides 1. its no contest with the WD's army at his side doing awesome dmg as well as taking all the dmg.
i agree the DH has potential to do tons of DMG, but not the best at soloing

With how much damage output the DH has, I think strafing will be much more effective in D3 than it was in D2, making the DH a very viable solo class. We'll have to see, though.
Just a note on whole minion WD having an easier time in Inferno thing:
Halfway through the Beta, Champion and Elite monsters are already ignoring my dogs and running right for me. If you expect that to not be the case 3 difficulties later on... well, good luck.

I've watched a few WD playthroughs and I've seen no such thing.
Video proof or it didn't happen.
EDIT: i went and watched a few WD playthroughs and i saw many rare/champion encounters. the ONLY time they or ANY mob for that matter was attacking the WD was if and ONLY if he was in front of his dogs or his dogs were already attacking other mobs. i saw many times where the champ/rare/reg mob goes for the WD as he is attacking them and then his dogs attack and they instantly ignore you and just attack the dogs. so as far as normal difficulty is concerned they do not ignore your pets, in fact they are magnets.

Lol. All I can tell you is that last night, while playing my WD, with dogs out, while behind them (initially), three molten champions mauled the hell out of me and ignored my dogs until I killed them. The dogs were indeed attacking other things which should be expected considering you're fighting over 3 enemies almost -always-. They can't be magnets and get the champs on them because you have no way to tell them what to attack. Hence the champs go for you, the dogs keep doing their thing, and you have to deal with the champs on your own. If you think Inferno is going to be sending less then 20+ enemies at you at a time..... Better have a lot of dogs.
I'm going to take what I actually experience IN the game, over videos (which may be from previous versions of the game no less). I figured I'd just let you know since I know a bunch of people are of the opinion that pets are greater than anything (aka OP) for Inferno.

I'm not saying ALL champs and elites do as I haven't played the WD much (hate the class so far), but one case of it occurring is enough to indicate that it happens (to be expected imo).
I couldn't care less if you don't believe me. Just trying to be helpful for people not in Beta.
Pets are not an auto win button.
claiming something isnt great in beta of a class you dont like doesnt tell us anything. pets could be more or less effective later on, who knows how they scale or exactly how the game scales past SK.
assuming they are far more effective and much safer then not having them is a safe dont-need-game-info assumption. which is all anyone was saying.

I never said anything about being nor not being great. I said champs ignored my dogs (as I said they would before I even had beta access). You're jumping to the conclusion that because dogs don't act as god magnets for all monsters (as you seemed to think they would) that I'm claiming they're "not great". If monsters are ignoring them in Normal it seems pretty likely they would in higher difficulties as well. If they were meant to tank it would be included in the tooltip. They're just a form of a damage spell that has the added benefit of being minor distractions to a limited number of enemies.
The only thing I expressed whatsoever regarding "greatness" was my opinion of the WD class itself which is obviously just my personal preference. I'm not saying the WD sucks and is the worst class. It just doesn't fit my play style at all.
The assumptions earlier in this thread were "WD is going to have the easiest time in Inferno because they have pets." I disagreed with this before, and I still do. Stating that the WD is at an advantage over a Wizard because they have pets makes no sense since the Wizard has things the WD doesn't too. If the WD doesn't have the gear to survive in Inferno they're going to die regardless of how many pets they may have. Just like any other class. Gear > Pets.
Ummm, how do you figure that?
Zombie dogs do 15% of your weapon damage, and gargantuan does 30%. If you think you'll fly through with crappy weapons, then you'll be heading for a lot of trouble. Also, this is a description from the wiki: "The Witch Doctor is a much more active, spell-attacking class than the Necromancer was, though. A Witch Doctor can not succeed just summoning pets and sitting back; he must venture in much closer to the fray, constantly using attack spells to supplement the damage dealt by various short-lived pets."
Blizzard has said that they don't want you to just summon dogs and sit back, that's boring gameplay. They want the Witch Doctor to be able to support his pets, so technically he'll be more like the Druid, in that sense. But since the change to spells, all classes will be very gear reliant.
this isnt a thread about gear, its about what class will have the easiest time soloing if all 5 classes had no gear or exactly the same gear. lol
You're joking right? Page two has at least FOUR posts of you saying gear doesn't matter. One of them was JUST quoted above me.
Never ONCE has it been stated we're assuming all classes in the same gear or naked. You just brought that up right now.
You really need to get your story straight.
Wrong thread. Lol. Thought this was another thread I was talking on about the WD. The WD won't need other gear as much as other classes for inferno but he will need a decent wpn of course cuz all dmg is wpn based. because he will be taking Significantly less hits then the other classes because of his pets diverting most monsterS and he has the best CC in the game.
EDIT: just looked at the thread. This is turning into the argument on the front page lol. So ya. Ttyl

The speculations and discussings are rather fun while nobody has seen what Inferno has to offer yet, my guess is we'll see who/what/when "Beats" inferno when the game is finally out.
Yeah, exactly. I think that it doesn't matter which class you play, we are all going to get our assess handed to us in equal measure. And I can't wait for it.

I think a lot of people over exaggerate inferno mode.
There is a survival mode, so the game has to be easy enough so that such a task is feasible.

I think he mostly means before we farm for better items. As stated Diablo has always been a gear based game. Nightmare and Hell in D2 really was super difficult if you only just finished the previous mode and didn't have good enough gear, esp resists for D2.
So for D3, I'm hoping Inferno will be almost instant kill if you only just completed Hell and only just hit 60 with no truly good Inferno gear.

I don't dispute that it could be possible that the WD might have the best "soloing" ability but to say outright that you're correct... Anyone can say "I chose not to accept your reality and choose to substitute my own" but it doesn't make you any less of a douche lol
To go over the bold/underlined statement YOU made:
So you agree that once you have no minions to occupy the enemies that they start coming for you? 4 Dogs +1 follower + 1 Gargantuan + Fetish Army. I don't think your summons will outnumber the monsters in game (esp. in Inferno).
And I just want to add something! You probably will be soloing Inferno first because I can't see why anyone would want to play with you... Try changing how you think man or you aint going to be making many friends anytime soon. And who wants to die alone? Seriously though this part isn't to flame you it is to open your eyes to your wicked ways!
If you don't believe me go watch "Into The Wild" You'll learn what people need most in life and that is other people!

based on the skill calc and playthroughs its obvious from any point of view the WD will rule at surviving, its in his damn description. but ANYWAYS.
i wont be playing with anyone 90% of the time, playing with someone is boring and less challenging. so no skin off my back. im married and have kids so i wont die alone even if i wanted to. (believe me ive tried)
