but the female Wizard is far hotter than the sorceress (and the male one's style reminds me too much of blood elves from WoW) so i'll definitely be going for the female. when i roleplay, i'll have boobs
How old are you man? You want your character to have "boobies"? lol..... I will always pick a male character over female, even with the same gear you know the character will look tougher.
When I have a choice, I usually pick male characters. It would be kinda weird the other way around. Seriously, if you're that desperate to see boobs on your pc, there are better options. I still don't see what this has to do with the wizard though.

Please stop pretending it's weird. It's not weird.
There are typically two forms of expression as far as online goes.
1) What I am
2) What I like
(there's also [3) what I am pretending to be] which goes with roleplaying but it's not as common)
2) is why many people play the opposite gender. Just because you're 1) in all cases doesn't mean there's anything wrong or weird with other people, for all I know it may mean you're self-centered :P. I like to project positive emotions onto some hero in front of me and I don't always necessarily want to BE the hero.

Where do women who play males fit in, then? Seriously, it's not exactly about sex or looking at boobs, because there are indeed other options, and I assure you, people are aware of them.
It's not (completely) about the "boobies". Some characters just feel better being female. Maybe it's because I'm used to the sorc, but I'll definately be playing the female wizard, so far, as my first character. I like to imagine my characters have personality and stuff and, in my head, male characters are the heroic, save-the-day, good guys and female characters are badass, kill-'em-all bitches. You can't deny there's something really cool about a tiny, cocky girl blowing the shit out of a bunch of demons.
Its just cosmetic. They all play the same. But sometimes It just feels different to play a a different sex. It may move smoother to you or something. There may be different moves or "animations" between the two. I didn't mind playing a female character in Diablo II. But I actually wouldn't choose female over a male. Thats just me.
Oh sure, I can understand people want to role play and think a male/female character would suit their purpose better for any reason. For myself I just don't see why I'd pick a female character... I just standardly pick male because I'm male myself. Every player always associates him or herself to some extent with the character - you are controlling its moves after all, and when it dies you say "I got killed by a stygian doll" and not "my character got killed by a stygian doll". I don't say people who play a different gender are gay or anything. But just for myself there's no incentive to pick a female char.

Eh, really? To me it's always like a separate entity, the character, is telling me, the user, that he got killed by the stygian doll.
Eh, I'm a girl, so I'm accustomed to using game characters of the opposite gender. I prefer it, honestly, especially if the male character is nice to look at.
Also, as a Squaresoft fan, I have to say the male wizard kinda seems like "home" to me. The main difference is that while he's pretty, he's not angsty -- which I can't say is a bad thing.
I will just pick whatever gender i think looks cooler for each class.. Admit it, some genders in some games just look ridiculous opposed to the other gender. I definately think the female wizard looks better than the male one.
Also while I'm on the subject of looks of genders, I'd like to say that i think the male Monk should lose the beard. I always pictured the male monk to be like a chinese shaolin monk haha.
Wizard are more all man that you see in game and in movies and staff and Sorceress or which are all females in game and move that what i me
same story here .. I'll be playing a male wizzy for single player and a male barb for battlenet. When I finish those idk what I'll do next.

But, yes, accusing people of playing the opposite gender bugs me quite a bit.
I said I'd be playing a female character where?
Didn't sound like it. You're backing out now.
