After looking at Snowhammer's build I couldn't help but theorycrafting my own build for this Wizard. Now before I get started I need to do one thing. DISCLAIMER: all concepts and ideas I use in this post are based on what is presently known about skills, runes, and traits. It doesn't reflect on the final build of the game nor does it attempt to impose that this is the way it should work. It is purely for entertainment purposes.
Concept
Well it is safe to say that we all know what a Battlemage is suppose to be, simply put a melee oriented fighter. My idea is more about mobility, close combat, and CC. Damage reduction is a big portion to as well as punishing those who do hit me. With that said, let's see how this build looks.
Skills Spectral Blade (Crimson) = Inferno Blade: The first rule about the Battlemage is to deliver destruction over a small area. When this blade hits an enemy it sets them on fire and has a chance of causing the enemy to run in a panic. Landing a killing blow from the attack causes the mob to turn into a bomb causing damage to all nearby enemies.
Ice Armor (Golden) = Arcane frost armor: This is one of the cornerstone skills in the build. Now when enemies hit you the armor absorbs their heat and turns it to Arcane energy.
Frost Nova (Obsidian) = Blade Nova: From the Spectral realm you pull 6 blades to circle you for X seconds, dicing your enemies to small clumps of flesh.
Diamond Skin (Alabaster) = Timeshift Skin: Retaining the ability to nullify damage is nice but a waste of potential damage. Your skin becomes a portal in time bending in on itself. Instead if taking damage from your enemy you redeliver it back to him, higher ranks gives it back more times.
Slow Time (Crimson) = Slow Cooking: Now when you slow time you allow the environments heat to continue to build up in the time warp. Turning it into a nice oven that deals fire damage to enemies inside in higher doses the longer the time warp is up.
Magic Weapon (Alabaster) = Temporal Weapon: Your weapon is now a shimmering aspect of it's existence, constantly phasing in paradox time warp. You weapon feels like nothingmmaking your attacks faster and when you land a blow your weapon continues to land blows X times. More blows with higher level runes.
Teleport (Crimson) = Event Horizon: Teleporting from one area to another requires a great deal of training and being a master you know of the hazards from improperly shielding yourself while between existences. When you arrive from a teleportation you bring with you the untamed arcane energy around you dealing damage to all near by enemies. If you teleport while surrounded you will take 4 mobs with unshielded from the arcane hells releasing them when you exit letting their broken minds wander as the arcane energy burns all around them before they turn to dust.
