In group builds, one of your team mates (typically a monk) procs your APDs for you so you don't need to run Halo of Arlyse. Instead you wear Convention of Elements, cube Furnace and line up your archon cast with the fire phase of Convention of Elements.
This way you get 2x fire phases per Archon, the first of which is during archon stack overlap. This first fire phase is where you do the vast majority of your damage.
If you have about 3 mill e-dps then you got the deeps to speed GR95 in the 6-8 minute range. You should be killing all blue champion packs and most yellow elites in that first fire phase (4 seconds). You should be killing the Rift Guardian in 2x archon forms with no pylons.
From GR95 to GR100 its really just about density manipulation, which is mainly a zdps problem.
If you have trouble surviving then your zmonk probably sucks. All you need to do is stand in inner sanc. Don't move around too much because it just makes it harder for the zmonk to keep inner sanc on you. If a well positioned occy circle pops, the zmonk will pre-emptively drop inner sanc on it.
Try not to go out of your way to kill yourself by face tanking easily avoidable stuff like molten explosions. Reposition inside the inner sanc using Archon teleport to avoid standing directly on top of arcane beams and frozen pulses. When you drop archon, don't do that thing loads of Wizards do and teleport to the edge of the screen to channel arcane torrent 50 yards from your monk. I don't know why people do this. You just put yourself miles away from an inner sanc, miles out of range of stun/freeze procs and ranged/affixes will own you. Your zmonk sucks if they can't keep you alive through some ground poop.
Zmonk should be nuthugging you when you move from pack to pack so you aren't left alone with no apd procs and heals. You shouldn't have to worry about proccing in transit, dropping gogok stacks or missing your coe fire phase.
