For people looking to break solo GR40s (top 300) GR41s (top100), I recorded some of my own game play. I've never recorded any GRs before because I didn't want the reduced frame rate from recording to effect my GR performance (notice my rates are around 30 or less, normal is 60), but I feel like I got at least 40-41s on lock down pretty good now so might as well record some of my game play up for critique. I'm currently ranked 8th in US with a GR43 clear, my first GR41 clear was back in September with a Sunkeeper.
-I felt my execution of the Binder fight was almost perfect, both RGs (Binder and Butcher) went down in about ~3 mins.
-I made a couple bad decisions in the Binder rift where I got machine gunned down by those blow dart guys, but would have been hard to not die in that rift set up.
-Pay attention to teleports, both offensive and defensive
-Notice my AP pool generally is spent.
-Reactions with illusionist
-Notice how the hydras are positioned, they naturally fire at adds/trash first, so they are positioned to hit the elites in the same lava row as well.
-Skipping areas/ mobs
I played both rifts pretty bad to be honest, definitely some poor decisions and sloppy play, i died at least half a dozen times in one of them. Hey i'm human! But hopefully you can see even with that many deaths, even half decent 41s can go down pretty regularly.
My gear is "good" enough, and by many standards it is excellent, obviously someone who is looking to clear GR41 (~top100 in US) must have half decent gear regardless of personal abilities.
Hmm i have not myself played much past months, only log on for few mins and out again. Kindda bored with the same build. It seems the Monk, and Hunter got some love.
Well hope blizzard team working on some exiting game design build for the next exspansion for wizards. With some awesome mindblowing skillz and animation...
Thanks for the post.
Expansion probably won't be for a while, and from PTR, seems like firebird will still be go-to until they introduce the new slow time set which may or may not be more viable.
Good job on these rifts, one question tho, why do you use EE if you have a Fire Damage Furnace ? Wouldn't it be a better to take Blur for 17% damage reduction instead of the 5% damage increase (and sometimes 10%, but only if you hit with calamity) ? Or do your Templar's Lightning Procs increase the EE stack to 2 making it a 10% bonus ?
And you seem to port offensively with calamity, did you try the Fracture Rune and how are your opinions on it ?

Yes i've used fracture early on, to clear GR40-41 several months ago. My clan mate converted me to calamity since you can "control" its outcome much better then fracture.
My profile must be showing my INT/VIT furnace which i am currently using to tackle GR45s. The increased toughness from the VIT helps prevent me from getting 1-shot by most attacks, whereas if I used the one in my video, i'd be dead. The Furnace I am using in the video has Area% and lightning elemental range. So EE gives me 15% with calamity.
For GR41 - If you feel DPS is an issue, take EE over blur. Blur while good, doesn't interact super well with force armor (which I am using ATM).

There's going to be a point where Blur won't stop you from getting 1-shot by something, or a hit that wipes out >30% of your life. At that point, you'd likely run Force Armor so you'd get 3-shot in most instances. As a result, you'd pump DPS everywhere and maintain a threshold of toughness that allows you to get by with Force Armor.
When you cleared GR41 with a sunkeeper were you running Mirror Image - Duplicates because you weren't putting out as much DPS for elites or was this build/set-up also sufficient to kite?

Follower damage does not count towards EE.
