Hey guys, Ive tried being a witch doctor, I got to level 11ish, then I went on and read on their spells and got instantly turned off (don't know why).
I also slacked really much before giving them a chance to begin with because I read on their skills earlier. I didn't really find up to lvl 11 fun (like I did with every other class) but it feels like far too short a time to judge if a class is fun or not.
So, what makes you like your WD? I certainly don't like mine, but maybe WD is just not for me, which is probably it.
After the revamp to WDs in 1.0.4 I also decided to take a new look, but it still does very little besides turning me away from WD.
So, what make all you WD fans out there love your WD? I am seriously getting scared away from it, its the only class I haven't had past lvl 11 even.
*It would probably be best if you were selling the WD, try to make me buy him and play him, pretty please*

I dont really see a point in making someone trying to play a character he or she doesnt like. If you dont like him then you dont.
I personally liked him the most because his general behavior (responses etc) seemed to be the most laid back and realistic to me. Also I liked the spells, them being very original (ex: huge toad, rain of toads and locusts).
You see, I may end up liking the witch doctor, never been past lvl 11, don't know.
But when I read on the spells, I lose all motivation to play it.
Thats why I want people to sell me the WD, because I really dont know if I like it or not, I just know reading on the spell arsenal of WD turns me off. I cant bring myself to even log onto the lvl 11 WD I got, but for all I know it might be a really fun class to play.

Welcome to my world. My main was barbarian and i had same issues as you do...
I tend to find WD boring up to lvl 22. its gets better from 19 as you will get gargantuan BUT up to that point it was boring for me. your offensive abilities are bit tedious (darts), spiders are interesting for first 5 minutes and then nothing. Just keep up. I think you will love the class after lvl 22.You will have firebomb (nice exploding skull, with rune it jumps on the mobs on its own). You will get awesome acid rain (love the aoe damage with ability to target it where you want it). Just these 2 abilities were able to hold my interest up to lvl 60. Combined with soul harverst, spirit walk and nice aoe damage you will be destorying mobs whilst leveling and this was the first time when i was not turned down by leveling the same content again. in fact i pushed myself to - can i do this even faster?
WD is great class with lot of fun. You will just have to survive the first 20 lvls.
Also free dogs from unbreakable grasp are great too and you will be running with 4 pets
Other than that, right now its the class with the most possible viable builds, which is always interesting. The pets are good, the class has been buffed tremendously to the point it is now my easy-mode farmer, the voice acting isn't annoying, the skills visual effects are cool and it is the most unique class in the game. And the frog mojos are funny.
I haven't been turned off by the spells, on the contrary, I really like the wd's spells. On the other hand I don't like the wd as a character. Scrawny, hunchbacked mystic with Parkinson's. I'm not an RPer, but I really like to put myself in the character's shoes. I loved the necro in D2, it was pretty much the only class I ever played, but wd...god no.
I haven't leveled one yet, but the pets make WD sound somewhat interesting to me (especially now with their buffs). In WoW, having a pet was the main thing that drew me to hunter when I started playing, and pet battles in MoP. I just like the idea of pets!
Now I tell you "yeah, but this shield draws enemies away from you, and the shield will do 130% wep dmg to any monster near it, and the shield moves around chasing after enemies, and the shield replenishes itself and can potentially last forever".
Now you say "holy crap, that's the best shield skill in the game. But wait I don't see this awesome shield skill".
Then I say "GARGANTUAN!"
Need I say more. But seriously, all (and I speak only for myself when I saw all) love the WD primarily for its look and feel. I don't think any other class has 1/10 of the personality and character that the WD has. He is the only character I have, even with others über geared, where I look at my WD and say "man, he looks awesome".
I think the biggest problem, and its actually not a problem, is that the WD doesn't have an über build like every other class has. There is no "this is the only build to play". He's great because of his well balanced skills. Sure some are weak and nobody uses them. But there are a lot that are viable, unlike other classes. Want summons, do it. Want ranged, darts and poison cloud. Want to be closer, zombie bears. There are a ton of viable ways to play this class.
BTW I have been on the WD bandwagon since announcing D3 and was the first class I played to 60.

WD doesnt have one or two end game specs like other classes do. It has many.
WD doesnt have "only one correct rune" for spells. You can very successfuly use more, if not all, of them.
WD have MANY personal tanks or misdirection dummies.
WD is very versatile and can be everything from healer, to single target nuke wizard-like caster, through aoe killer, controler, summoner, passive summoner, heavy & tanky regenerator, close range caster, or even resource-less fighter for lazy ppl who dont like watching cooldowns or resource.

Rencol - Diablo fan since 1996 and walking encyclopedia of Diablo lore.
I gravitate toward any class of the "dark caster" type (necro in D2, shadowpriest in WoW, etc). Witch doctor's moves are just fun, and sometimes hilarious. There's a lot of variety in builds; you can be a pet class, party support, extremely mobile puking bears everywhere or standing half a screen away shooting darts or bats. If there's some skill you really want to use, you can probably make something work building around it.

I also read http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/blog/4402025/Which_Class_Will_You_Play_-11_05_2012 pre-launch for all classes, it really made me want to play barb and monk but scared me away from WD, the 2 others kinda stayed at where they already were.

No matter what the game, i'll always play the "darker" or more defensive/CC style caster.
Im also a fan of Death Over Time or "Poisoning" style attacks and pets/companions.
That said, level 11 is likely just to early to judge, running around Darting and dropping Grasp of the Dead is boring, give it time.

You can make bugs fight bugs (locust swarm)
zombies fight zombies
frogs fight frogs (those burrowing guys from act 1 kinda look like frogs)
ghosts fight ghosts
spiders fight spiders
bats fight bats
demons fight demons (garg)
suicide bombers fight suicide bombers
snakes fight snake people (snake to the face rune of splinters)
and when all else fails you can just mass confuse and make things fight each other.
What other class comes close to this?
" Yeah, so, most classes do. " you respond.
Now I tell you "yeah, but this shield draws enemies away from you, and the shield will do 130% wep dmg to any monster near it, and the shield moves around chasing after enemies, and the shield replenishes itself and can potentially last forever".
