So, everything I've seen says the WD has to kite in Inferno to survive, which is a problem because he only has one movement skill.
So, how does one kite when you're in a tight cave? Or when you hit a pack of monsters right after going through a door into a new level? I get it out on the overworld, but in caves and dungeons, I just don't see how you can kite. Any advice?

First step is to get some movement speed. I have 23% and it helps a ton. Second you want good kiting abilities like Grasp, Zombie Wall, and hex. these keep things away from you. Next you may have to take a step, turn and dart, take another step repeat. Sometimes this is the only way to kite a pack (mortar comes to mind). last, it takes practice. Find the skills that work the best for you and get out there and practice. Don't be afraid to die (unless you're playing hardcore!). Everyone dies that's how we learn.
Also, since spirit walk is about as mandatory as it gets, its helpful to remember that you can use it to run through enemies. If you've kited to the end of a narrow corridor, pop SW when the enemies catch up and run right through them and start kiting in the opposite direction. Then use your other snares such as grasp and zombie wall to hold them off long enough for the SW cooldown to reset. Repeat.
A lot of Witch Doctors like to lie about their skills. Here are some facts.
* Kiting is easy on trash mobs, not so easy on Elite packs. Even the best equiped Witch Doctors have issues kiting. This is do to the nature of the class. Our cc abilities have big cooldowns, while no other ranged class has any cooldowns on theirs.
* Past Act I, even if you have 100k dps unbuffed, you will die a lot. I mean, A LOT to champ packs. The best equiped Witch Doctor in the game, can barely farm Siege breaker 5 stacks without Tyreal.
* Most of the time, you are going to be stuck with 2 CC abilities, in later acts in Inferno. This is because you give up to much to progress with a hotbar filled with GOTD, Hex, Wall, Confusion. The most popular are GOTD, Wall and Hex. Hex is great when facing one mob, it's not so great when facing more then one. Wall is fantastic, but it's on the longest CC cooldown of any class in the entire game. GOTD will be your go to kiting ability.
Currently. Witch Doctors are the hardest class in the game to kite with. All our CC goes on cooldown, you can't spam blizzard, or caltrops. You will need to make liberal use of Spirit walk. All that said, you will die, a lot. Everyone does in Inferno, especially Witch Doctors.
Two skills pretty much any WD needs past act 1 inferno - gotd with 80% and spirit walk
Outside of those two it's pretty much preference, I run with horrify/bats/splinters and soul harvest, mainly because i feel i need at least one aoe and the dps boost from 5 stack harvest is so good (think it puts me up to 78k dps or so)
55k dps (crit build) cleared inferno diablo today, being a WD means a lot of death, the class is fun but has many glaring issues which need fixing, mana is a terrible resource atm, i can actually go OOM with just dart spam at times.
To get by as a WD you need to take your CC skills, and use them in rotation when kiting, wall/spirit walk/horrify are 3 which work very well together keep gotd on cooldown, kite, when they get close pop one of the three, kite, close again, next one, kite ect.
