What the title says. I use this talent, but I see very, very little use of it in other builds. Could just be my style, but these little buggers are darned useful.
In Normal through Hell, they do tons of damage (20% weapon damage per swing, each) and are called up very frequently. Though the tooltip says 3% chance per physical-real spell, the game currently counts any HIT from one of the spells as a spellcast. This means that things like Poison Dart (Splinters) is three chances to summon and Acid Rain is once per hit or tick. This adds up VERY fast. They aren't very tough, slightly less than the Zombie Dogs, but take no time at all to bring up and just dive in for 20 seconds. I also haven't yet found a limit to their population, I've had upwards of five out at a time
I'll grant that the talent isn't nearly as useful in Inferno due to fragility and MUCH more powerful and frequent AoE abilities on monsters.
When I was soloing Inferno Act 1, I used these when I was undergeared in a kiting build with Splinters and Direbats. Found them useful because they could do damage while I ran away. Other than that, I think our passives are very restricting when it comes to Inferno(solo or group) once some gear is acquired and the kiting method isn't as strong.
