Yeah... I'm going 2 handed for sure. Over 4 times the damage on the low end and nearly twice as good on the high end? Stats and + damage will not be able to make that up if you have a nuke build (which I will have).
(466-474)–(507-523)VS(78-128)–(243-487) [damage of thing + Knife]
so ACTUALLY the 1 handed isnt much worse, yes a lot better on low end but no its only 10% more on the high end damage. just more inconsistent damage but you ALSO attack 50%faster.... so ya im def going 1 handed. and the knife stats + off-hand stats can add up to a good amount too. also if you add the DPS together the thing/knife has higher end DPS than the maul because of the increased attack speed. i dont want to rely on much slower attacks because this game will be all about speed in inferno just like how it is in D2 hell but much worse since you wont be able to 1 shot things (until full high-rolled inferno act 4 gear and even then....)

I'm not going to assume I have the best possible rolled items like you. I went with the average damage range for all items. Unless you plan on buying items, good luck getting 2 perfectly rolled end game items anytime soon.

103-365 vs 470-515 are the correct numbers if you average the damage range of each item.
Skysplitter is sexy but I don't want my min damage to be as low as 300 dmg. It's like the lightning spells in D2, they sucked because the damage range was huge and you couldn't rely on it.

say whaaaaaaaat? lightning wizards fucking pwned with fast attack speed bro. yes its inconsistent but with fast attack speed your chances are a lot higher. and i still dont want to rely on epically slow attacks especially when mobs move like their on crack and i could possibly miss because 99% of spells arent like homing missles

The right choice on 1 handed vs 2 handed is contingent upon your build. Ruppgu is using the Direbats for his Nuke Build and Direbats will probably one shot a lot of guys, especially after siphoning souls. 2 handers have to have a major damage benefit to offset the interrupt ability of a high attack rate. Have you noticed, when you're attacking a guy real quick, their attacks are majorly slowed down as they get interrupted? In most situaitons, 1 handed weapons will be better, but for a nuke build...the two handed major damage per attack is GREAT news.

ya but a "nuke" build is fail until you have insane gear because it wont be possible to kill that fast in inferno until your insanely decked out.

http://us.battle.net...em/sky-splitter + http://us.battle.net...hkapian-serpent > or = skorn
or http://us.battle.net...item/azurewrath
or http://us.battle.net...yrean-messenger
as main 1 handed + serpent. azurewrath has almost 1.7 attacks per second without any help from gear. easy 2 attacks per second yes please
or for defense either of those 2 with
http://us.battle.net...em/lidless-wall
http://us.battle.net...tem/ivory-tower
http://us.battle.net...tem/stormshield
without a doubt going 1 handed after seeing all these
What are you talking about?
