Yea that got taken out for whatever retarded reason they came up with. I actually thought that it was a damn good idea.
There was a pretty logical reason behind the removal of that feature. First of all it didn't add anything more to the damage output of your mongrel. The next thing is the difficulty of keeping the disease setting...I mean when you attack with flaming skulls and your mongrel gets in the way and sets in fire, you can get pretty pissed off cause you wanted disease damage. There are other reasons that he clearly states, you should check it out, it actually makes sense :D:hammy:
Well i still think they could have worked with that system to improve on it. From the videos i had seen a disease and flame mongrel kicked some serious ass.

Yea but he means just by upgrading the skill like going from 1 skill point in it to 3 would make a mongrel look bigger or something.

Well im seriously expecting improvement over the D2 summons so i hope they dont dissapoint. I dont want to have a lvl 20 mongrel that looks the same as a lvl 1 mongrel. Also mongrel is a better name than zombie dog.

I hope it does much better damage at higher lvls, so at lvl 10 it wont be 9-12 poison damage or whatever it does.

Well im not a fan of having more passive skills than active skills but hopefully the pasives will also improve the visual effect of the active skill and it wont just make the effects better.

Actyually i think zombie dogs have only max 1 sp cause it's an active maybe five cause i knwo they are upgrading the max number in an active but most skills that max at 15 will be passive because they want you to focus in on comboing passives to gett diffrent types of powerful summons or diffrent powerful types of spells. But i agree they should get bigger and badder. Like say level 1 you have your normal Zdog, then level 2 it gets a lil bigger, then level 3 you could get bgger and more muscular looking show its veins popping out and show some muscles, then level 4 you could add some foam at the mouth while still making it bigger show some foam to make it look like its got rabies or something, level five it should be fucking badass veins everywhere muscles bulgind out of it much faster and stronger than level 1 and i wanna see this thing drooling and foaming at the mouth maybe some blood stains around the mouth and when it walks i want it to either trail some blood drooling from its mouth or puddles of drool from its mouth. THAT WOULD BE FRIGGEN SWEET!
EDIT: To bhaal they are going to improve the look somewhat. to get poison or fire mongrels its now a passive skill no longer spray locust warm on them or to fire bomb them.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
really they should have kept making mongrels like different like poison fire and lightning frost and stuff they really should have made it to where you could choose

You can. It's just that you can't switch. Se the original idea was that you put a firebomb on it and bam its a fire mongrel with some added fire bonus, or you spray locust swarm on em and bam they are poisonous mongrels. Now instead of being able to switch I recall they are making these atributes passive so it makes the mongrels Poisonous or Fire based when spawned this also goes for the bigger summons as well. BTW there were only fire and poison options as WD is only Fire Poison Wizards cant imbune them with arcan or frost or lightning.

I only heard that they were thinking of making it passive not that they already have. And i hope that the other summons are cooler than the mongrel cause it seems to plain to me
I wouldn't want *too* much micromanaging, but a little bit of optional spells would be nice (and maybe a single, occasional cooldown or something)
This is a big point I want to stress that is very important, especially from a class which uses summons as a defining spell type.
Autonomous actions at all times from pets makes a class either
A) Suck
or
Overpowered in certain aspects of the game
I have seen this through many MMO's and I hope to god that for D3 Blizzard sets up at least some required micromanagement to not only have your pets attack but to also make them viable. Blizzard has been making games easier rather than challenging and I'd love to see the latter for D3.

I like this post, having the summons actually getr more strong looking would be a pretty sweet thing.

Ooh i thought you meant black magic or something, but the way you describe it chaos magic is similar to wild magic which is random.
