My question is simple: do you play monk ONLY or do you use a DH or some other class to help you farm high GR keystones? Or do you play in groups to improve gems/keystones?
I've chosen to only use ONE character for everything to truly test what monks can do solo. I'm by all means a casual gamer (1 hour a day or so) but I'm getting close to getting into the top 100 on NS monk solo leaderboards. It is tempting to group up and get better gems to improve solo GR, but I'm staying true to my monk!
There are limitations unique to each class. The monk for example, can survive a nuclear nuke beneath his feet, but his damage output will never be as high as say a Demon Hunter. Likewise for the Demon Hunter, whilst he can dish out insane damage, he is pretty much a glass cannon. The classes are created that way for balance, and in a way to promote group play. I play mainly 3 classes now, Monk, DH & WD. DH for very efficient farming of mats, getting GR43+ keystones & solo GR; Sunwuko Monk for T6 rifts and up to GR35; WD for T6 rifts and up to GR40. As for party situations, it all depends on the group I'm with, I can either play my DH or zDPS monk or zDPS WD; and in a good party we can go beyond GR45+ =)

What a bull**it. DH lives better than the monk. A way better. Because DH doesnt' have to get hit in the face he can just run around waiting for his turrets to kill monsters. No balance in D3 atm.

The DH can't afford to get hit. A monk with serenity and epiphany is basically unkillable. I know that the game right now is not balanced - the way we play this game at the moment is governed by the set legendaries that Blizz releases into the game. I used to play Wiz exclusively but I'm really not fond of Boringbird - and the play style is really not my cup of tea. What I'm trying to say in my earlier post - I'm looking at each class base on their current strengths and play them tactically. Very much like how you would deploy a squad of special forces. Until Blizz brings the other classes up to the level of Barb and DH... I'm just gonna have as much fun as I can with what's on the table
Did a GR 39 last night and was 10 sec short of a GR 40 later on. Had a conduit but failed at getting to 99% so I could use it. Still completely restricted to solo monk play. Hope to see other share their story (if they are doing the same thing).
Howdy! Just wanted to comment because I am also playing solo monk and actually progressing level 35 right now. Was away for a while during WoD launch but am back and focusing one toon as well. I recently got into the Sader and I really enjoy it but I kinda get tired of hearing non stop horses.
I do feel that there is a slight inbalance of the classes because for example the Barb and DH are both doing 50+ in solo's where the other classes are in the high 30s and early 40s. That is due of course to the limited builds and sets that are viable and do wish we had a bit more diversity for a game that took 10 years to develop. Unfortunately that is what it is. We can still enjoy the game and the new content they put out. That's my 2 cents.
I'm having a lot of trouble enjoying this new content they gave us Giterdun.
The "New" for us this patch is that if you were not using Sunwuko's you should be, because now it works for all elemental affinities.
I never liked the set. It's the equivilant of Shadows Mantle for Demon Hunters.
WHY are we being pingeonholed into doing stuff Blizzards way.
What the **** did they make all those "Play your way" video's if they're just gonna turn 180 degree's and remove even more diversity.
Demon Hunters are stronger dps and we're stronger survival.. That's great. Except damage is the preferred stat for ALL classes.
First you need the damage to kill things, THEN you think about survival.
But alas, we are based around our survival and support, so we never get the damage numbers some of the other classes can enjoy.
Go youtube monk solo Grift 50, doesnt look like dmg is a issue to me
If you check the different ones there (HC, Season ect) you can easily see that Monks are not doing Grift 50's. They aren't even there on the leaderboards, so its not even a case of "A few Monks reach it". ZERO monks reach that solo.
Even if we DID reach that damage, its only by going the one single route with Sunwuko's.
Meanwhile Demon Hunters just got a change that'll force them into being active.
At least they're compensated with 300-400% dmg increase, depending on gear.

Did you acually even check the youtube search yourself, before you just jumped to conclusions?

How about you?
Currently rank 59 on EU NS and climbing!

Done on PTR which is now live

DH does dmg with the same single route: M6 set, non of the other sets are viable either for high lvl Grifts
So 300-400+ mil dmg is not dmg numbers you can enjoy?
why yes i did
