I know it's not relevant now but did anyone pick out the fact you were using an offhand that was almost 120dps lower then the mainhand? I'm fairly sure that drops your damage significantly to using an offhand with the same damage as the mainhand. Obviously if the stats are good on the offhand then it doesn't matter but just thought I'd point it out. It's mainly because of this I think shields are better as you can get a cheap one with good stats rather than having to buy two high matching damage weapons, especially for progressing players.
Is that for me ? I just looted these weapons and I use the lower DPS one for those mobs I cannot face tank. I would prefer to use DW.
i've been using the Scoundrel and I will give the Enchantress a try. Based on your feedback and Coaster_Man I feel like the progression is going for higher armor/res/loh. I can get gear with high dex, some vit and dual resists - but no crit. for that magic combo on one piece is like four hundred gahzillion gold )
I would suggest when getting pieces with crit chance/damage as possible stats, don't choose vit as a search term, if you find a cheap one with it, great, but don't be afraid to lose vit for offensive stats on those items, focus on getting it on pieces that can't roll crit chance/damage, and maybe also look for life% on things that can roll it to give you that extra life if you need it. As for damage, I find the best way to buy weapons is looking for socket and primary stat (vit if you're life is low, dex if not) and go for as high dps as you can afford (preferably higher speed) and then throw as high of a Crit damage gem as you can afford in one, and as high of a LOH gem as you can afford in the other, then get the rest of your LOH in ammys and rings.

Nerd: When you say it, you best say it with awe,
'Cause I'm the type of nerd that will bust your jaw.
Know clue if this will help, but I'll give some of my opinions. As for what to look for on gear Gloves/Boots can roll high dex and Chest/Pants can roll high vit. Knowing this u can lose a stat in one area but gain overall. For gloves I search for atk speed/crit and high dex 160+ (slowly drop stats in ah till u find what u are looking for, if u don't find just don't buy) and choice of resist. Boots just high dex 160+ and movespeed w/ both resists (searching for monk boots is horrible) vit is always a positive but never a must. Chest and pants I look for high vit, 2-3 sockets (1-2 for pants), both resists and hope to find some w/ dex. Rings i go for atk speed/crit, 1 resist, vit or dex. Amulet i go for dex 90+, resist, and crit (I still use my old 500 LoH neck in act 3 on Ghom) crit bonus would be nice, but yeah... don't bother unless u find. Helm I go for dex, socket, crit , 1 resist and again vit is always a plus. Belt/Shoulders I try to fill in some gaps that I have, for me it's 2 resists vit/dex. Also if u can, try to get 2 pieces w/ pickup radius.
I was able to clear acts 3/4 before the patch with a much defensive build and stats. I've been slowly dropping resists (arcane is starting to hurt again) but raising my damage considerably. The day of patch my build was deadly reach w/ keen eye and mantra of evasion w/ hard target. 950 resists 1100 LoH w/ only 19k damage and 22% melee damage reduction. Now my build is back to my fun build I used lvl'n w/ the addition of cyclone rune for sweeping winds (had to up crit rate above 25% to start seeing improvement over blade storm). Thunderclap on Fists of Thunder is great w/ the teleport for those pesky goblins. Now that the mobs don't do as much damage I enjoy using Mantra of Conviction w/ overawe. I don't enjoy dw'n act 3/4 but u can. Try to get a fast offhand w/ high LoH, crit bonus to buff your main hand damage. Main hand I try to get a semi fast weapon w/ highest damage i can afford w/ good dex and socket. Shield can get 10% crit, resists, dex/vit and block (u can block everything other than what u stand in).
To start act 3 I suggest 800 resist, 6000+ armor, 40k health and 35-40k damage. As I stated earlier it's not all 100% to use same gear for all. On Ghom I use my old tanky shield 20% block chance good rolls on vit/dex and both resists w/ my LoH weapon and neck. It seems better for me to try and do good constant damage w/out having to run around too much. My damage is only 39k self buffed but drops to 22k w/ tankier gear. I agree w/ other posts, I also use the enchantress. Hope this helps.
to the OP: i ventured into a3 roughly 3 weeks ago aor so, sitting at similar stats as you. i was also eaten alive by most things, particularly elemental dmg. i watched one of my buddies cut through mobs dwing tornado build on his barb and thought wtf this is dumb. i am sword and board farming a3 now fairly efficiently, dieing to a pack once in a while. i attempted to roll duel wield, but unless you have at least 50+ million to spend on the gear that is required, i will honestly say it just isnt going to happen. i was living in the void zone thinking i could do this, and ya, maybe you can clear some mobs, but the amunt of invested time and gold in order to get through a full a3 farm route simply wont be worth it to you. you will find that for the time being, sword and boarding into and through a3 will be far more efficient, and also that you can run a fairly offensive build if your weap and shield are rolled well. with sword and board using overawe, i sit at 24k dps, 21% crit chance and 130% crit dmg. i run a standard tank build, minus mantra of evasion, and i sit at 720 resist with 7.8k armor using defensive enchantress build. i actually kill things at a much faster rate using my s/b, because the kiting is far less severe. use a s/b build to farm through a3, pray for a drop, or jump back into a1 and make some quick gold to buy upgrades. but honestly like i said comming from experience. It isnt about the build, it isnt about the skill really, it is about the necessary gear and it will cost you big time to convert over, much more than you really even realize until your too deeply invested into the ah.
i have slowly been switching over from physical resist to resist all only pieces instead of both stats on one peiece. reason being, you want higher dps, you simply cannot afford a item with 2 resist stats rolled instead of a single resist + some sort of dps stat or life. im still rolling with one with everything at the moment because of a single piece of gear i have left, but think about it. dropping one with everything and using resolve AND transencende along with sieze the innitiative would be ideal. and honestly, when you get to the point of duel wield, having 670 resist all is really not that hard to achieve.
P.S transendence over resolve all day long, made the switch last week and it has been amazing. try it out
P.P.S. im running 450 loh sword and board off of a neckpiece and ring which i picked up. use a 790-800ish dagger with dex and vit and that small amount of loh will make a huge difference. im clearing a farm run of a3 with a handful of deaths in around 45 minutes. duel wield will take me probably 2+ hours.
i forgot to add. when i attempted d/w into a3, i was sitting at around 30k dps, 690 resists, 23% crit chance and 160 crit dmg with 700 loh. my gear is probably worth around 90 mill, give or take a few. this is because of the inflated ah, but hey that doesnt really matter. it will continue to be inflated while you shop for your pieces. just some food for thought.
Raised my hp to 50k and resists to 700, killed ghom with ease. Also killing most elites easy mode. Got a fast horde pack of those big stomping demons. They destroyed me but otherwise np.
Got to siege breaker last night, he is pretty lol with a Monk, you can just face tank him. looking forward to the spider chick, she was pretty hard on my wizard (post 1.03) and made me switch to a monk.
Polrayne, how goes your en-devours? Have you managed to do well in ACT 3? I noticed that farming for elites in areate crater and further are much easier than the ones before siege breaker (unless you get a nasty hulking phasebeast pack). The normal white mobs before siege breaker take way to long to clear and I find I do die more often due to impatience.
I have also been in search of a chest item. I currently have a chest item that has
x armor
+-100 dex
+- 147 vita
43 Arcane Resistance
3 slots.
Replacing it has been very hard since I have 1 star gems for vitality and 2 dex gems in mine. Generally I would not pay millions unless an Item has close to perfect stats so like close 70 resist all etc.
Im looking at replacing my armor but Im not sure if it worth it, what I have is
538 armor
66 Dex
200 Vit
3 slots
Someone is selling this armor for 15M
80Dex
125Vit
35Cold Resist
30All Resist
8% Life
3 Slots
Including 3pcs of +50Dex Emeralds
Worth the upgrade?
Well, the Gems are worth roughly 6-7m. I don't think I would pay 8m for the armor without gems... resists are rather low, dex also.
Just as a comparison, I payed 500k for the following chest armor:
109 dex
147 vit
40 lightning res
38 all res
3 sockets
Now, I roughly value the 8% Life as 80 vit, so stat wise the 15M chest is a bit higher, but then the resis are lower, and overall more dex is better in my opinion. Bottom line is that I wouldn't pay so much for this chest. If you really have resist problems then you should look for something that gives you 100+ resistance...
Your chest is a lucky purchase, you cant find a similar one at any given time for 500k, I've searching for hours / day at the AH for 2 week and I still havent found a bang for the buck chest. Usually for the cold resist these kind of low stats are already very expensive. I currently have like 750 resist and I would like to bump it up some more, also my helm has no resist.
Yup those phasebeast and tremour packs were tough ones, I had to skip some of them as well. Not all killed some but a horde of teleporting or fast of those mobs are evil.
Till now I havent upgraded my weapons and I have something like 45m to spend on a new one, I cant really tell if the weapon price is decent or Im over paying. Can anyone help ?

Im pretty bad at judging what is a good weapon for the price this is probably why I stuck with these weapons since I just got them off from mobs.
If you could PM me some example weapons from AH that would be great!
