molten packs and fire-chain packs, especially when both are on one pack, are giving me a incredibly hard time in act 3. anyone got any tips on dealing with these?
here are some of my stat
36k hp
5k armor
900 res all
1900 loh
16k damage
1600 dex
the ones u listed, i seem to have an easy time with. i can usually tank mobs on top of plague until 3 or 4 overlaps. for some reason it doesn't hurt as much as molten/fire-chains. arcane i'm usually pretty good at dodging it unless its a waller pack.
What I do is constantly move back, not really kiting but just changing my position.. It's more difficult when the mobs are fast, because they'll get ahead of you to make you step on fire and keep the chains on you.. also try to focus on 1 at a time to reduce the fire chains.
I usually only have trouble with Fire chains, molten, desecrator, plagued and arcane if they're coupled with waller. Frozen can be dodged, and Jailer can be circumvented with Thunderclap, but waller really has the potential to ruin my day.. Funny that some affixes I never bothered with on my DH give me trouble on the monk, and vice versa. Reflect damage used to be the bane of my existence, but now gets ignored
If you are having trouble with positioning and effectively kiting,try Deadly Reach/Keen Eye or Foresight and SW/Firestorm. They make kiting a whole lot easier.
yea i tried deadly reach from the suggestions, it sure makes the molten packs easier. my damage output seems lower though. i think the problem was fot-thunderclap teleports me too close or behind the target even and i take too much damage. slowly figuring it out though.
5k armor? That seems extremely low, guessing your not using a shield. A good shield with 100+ dex and crit chance would probably increase your damage and make you a lot tougher. Doubly so if you can find all resist and/or your chosen resist on it.
I've since swapped to a Fist of Thunder/Conviction w/ Overawe build for farming. I can farm act 3 but even with 8.4k armor 800 resists and 25k damage it's not easy.
I agree with Zuchi. I went to dual generators. Fist of Thunder of course, but also Deadly Reach with Foresight instead of Blinding Flash because it is a constant damage boost. It also allows me to use combo strike for another bonus to damage. Plus Deadly Reach lets you kill the nasty pack with Desecrate Molten Arcane Fire Chain by standing far away from them. The other alternative is to FoT in, hit while immune and as soon as you take damage run away. Then come back in later.
I play with a group and we buff each other. I can hit 1200 resists, and 10,000 armor. And even with 1000 LoH, life steal, and hard target and a barb shout I can't stand in every pack's damage without moving some.

because I have similar stats and can kill that type of packs more easily than for example pestilence/protection/arcane/vortex

That said, your damage seems low for Act 3
If this is just for progression deadly w/ keen and mantra of healing w/ time of need should get you there fairly easily with a shield. If your wanting to farm act 3, the honest answer is your gear isn't there yet.
