It looks like they have the same crappy designers doing the graphics for items that did the WoW items. It looks like the monks got stuck with the Paladin designer and the WDs got the warlock designer.
I doubt this is the case, but just looking at them, that was my first thought
Characters should start out looking tough, but undereqquiped. Then they should go into a fantasy fiction hero kind of phase. Then.... end game. By this point, characters should basically look like.... a Mardi Gras float representing their class.

Really descriptive! But I like your idea. They should start out almost somewhat boring, and by the end be insanely over the top epic.

I was being sarcastic. I think a lot of the endgame looks are overdone. I do think end game sets should look epic, but my notion of what an epic hero looks like is a little more practical and subdued than Blizzard's.

Agreed.
Hey folks take a look at the next tier of barbarian armor! Freshly leaked!

Forums really need a graphic adjustment to indicate sarcasm just like bold or italic lol. Anyways, my misinterpretations aside, what type of game(s) would you prefer the "endgame" equipment look more like?

LOL!! That must be from that Colorblind Assassins of Kalimdora game. Seriously though, what you just said about there needing to be a standardized wya to represent sarcasm in text - I have thought that for ages!!!
@Romique Yes, it would be that, except with much larger arm guards.
EDIT: Adding a serious thought. Diablo, historucally has had a dark sort of realism (at least when compared to other Blizzard titles.) So I think when someone designs armor for it, there should be a litmus test based on one simple question. "If I saw someone wear this in a live action movie, would they look awesome, or ridiculuos?" And if the answer is ridiculuos, start erasing spiky protrusions until the answer is awesome.
I think all the armor sets in the OP are off. I think they look cool, but all can be critiqued. The wizards looks like a sex outfit. The barb looks like a corny anime character. The Monk's bottom half is suttle, but the top looks like a tron costume. The WD armor looks cool, but doesnt give off a "voodoo" or witch doctor vibe at all as it looks demonic to me (yes i see a difference between voodoo and satanic). The DH looks plain, and not appropiate for a ranged character. Though if I went with any character I wouldn't mind it as my final "look" because very rarely in D2 did final character setups look cool.
I dislike the Monk armors as well, especially most of it through the tiers. Checkout Tier 11, it practically looks like Genghis Khan or some Asian General. IMO monk should look much better than some middle eastern/religious/genghis khan/terrorist look lol.
The Barbarian's armors looks so much better compared to a monk.
Although I'm still gonna stick to monk, I really hate the healing skills. I think its just a waste of slots to promote a kungfu and aggressive hero. Monk has speed, which reflects Agility/Dexterity and putting healing on a super fast hero? Everyone's gonna carry pots to heal, and wasting skill slots for healing is a bad idea. Healing should be a mage's/healer's job.

Easy enough, just "I'm the Juggernaut bitch!" through them.

Another reason to be torn between DH and WD for 1st play through.

Maybe something more like this(?):

Don't like it either, quite unusual
