I agree but its seem silly considering that blizzard has enough resources experience and time too make those "break the mold" classes all the time.
and i agree they just have to be fun too play i am still getting diablo 3 and more then likely will play as all the classes but it wont be the same as playing 5 unique game play styles....
How can you say that they aren't unique? Does the Barb have a combo system? That alone makes it unique compared to the others.
The last class will be ranged - that is certain. I'm guessing a mix between a Druid and an Amazon. Probably a Ranger or something.
again can someone point out how this monk has a fun game play style compared too lets say the barbarian....what makes this monk more fun too play then the barbarian, is it the fact that he uses hands instead of axes.
I never said he was more fun than any character, except, in my own personal case, I did say that I think I would rather play the Wizard over him because of my personal taste that has culminated over the decade.
from what i saw he runs around hitting things, what so different about that compared too the barbarian.
The obvious difference is speed, which has also been noted by developers. He has skills that let him zip all over the screen in combat, skills that let him fire fists a thousand a second... It's self-explanatory, really. If that's the way you like to play, it would obviously be fun. If it isn't, then you probably want a different character.
if they made a monk who did flips in battle, leaped off walls, used the bad guys as projectiles (throwing them) broke bones,
I'm following you so far- barely, but I am.
ripped out hears (like monks do)
WAAAIIIT! WTF? What's a hear? Monks rip them out, do they?
walk on water (tip toe) etc but he doesn't he does what all other classes do walk around attacking things....show me the amazing unique game play.
You must be confusing my post with someone else's, but I guess if I were to say the game play was unique in some way (although I never lauded it as you so presumtuously shoved in to my carefully-typing fingers), it would, once again, be the battle-dependent speed of attack and immersion.
The Wizard obviously is better at a range. The Barbarian goes right up the monsters' asses, but his attacks are cumbersome and slow (but not ineffective). The Witch Doctor seems to favor just mass chaos- bits of summons here and there, throw in an explosive Molotov... You name it. The Monk is unique from them in that he is speedy and up-front in combat, with skills that mirror this gameplay.
And Bannik, for the love of all things small and furry, please stop double-posting. It's very clearly against the rules and I'm sick of acting as your personal editor when you fail to do so of your own volition and merge them all. I will start giving infractions for it if I have to, and we can go from there. I normally don't for something like that, but you just keep doing it /not for discussion
What I am liking about this class, as well as the others, is when you hit it or make it blow up and splatter all over the place, IMHO you can feel the power of the skills they use. Unless something else puts me in awe before DIII comes out, I WILL make a monk.
On a side note, The monk was used before in the Diablo I expansion made by Sierra. It also remids me of the assasin in DII: Lord of Destruction...... only BETTER.
After watching the videos.. i believe this will be my first class... I love to be up and in the action, fast moving, fast killing, and it takes skill to not end up fast dying... and those videos only show a tiny portion of the combo attacks he will have.. I can only imagine some of the attacks you could string together - should be sick!
diablo 3. so far. its a tie between the monk, and the wizard. hahaha. the monk is so cool. and i do martial arts. and i love how they made the character.
maybe this has been mentioned. but theres a striking resemblance in attacks and skills to the Monk class in RO.
also the fact thats hes wearing asian inspired monk attire although his facial features are clearly of a white persons, makes me a bit confused. o well, the wizard is already asian; god-forbid there be more than one of them!

Yep, my favourite class in RO.
they are one of the coolest class in the game, especially with their Ashura Strike
I can't wait to actually play this class for myself. :]
Definitly going to be my first played. I've always loved this type of character, and it's usually the type that I always pick in whatever new game i'm playing. The Fast, Strength and Brawn type character that usually sacrifices Defence for more offensive ability.
I can't waaiiitttt. Another year and a half at the earliest, I guess from what we know so far. Hope it goes by fast. :/
Also, thanks for the Sticky, guys. Means a lot. :]

Dhalsim (Street Fighter), which is a fighting monk in this arcade fighter game
+
Rasputin (World Heroes), which is an unnarmed fighter in this arcade fighter game
(based on real Rasputin ofc called the "mad monk" )

Shhhh.
Precedence doesn't matter with the realists.

Why even bother having the weapon if all you do is put it on your back?
Edit: The Wizard does it too even with 1 handeds, it would appear.
