So in the video, Jay said the last set of the 3 monk sets that were shown was from inferno. Although I'm aware it sounded like a roud about guess on his part, If that is from inferno I'm hoping their are other sets with different styles. I'm kinda hoping their are diff top tier sets for every character that have diff looks/attributes. From the looks of the inferno weapons, that is the case for them but it wasn't confirmed for armor. Any thoughts?
Oh god....That last one is AWFUL. Are you kidding me? FFFFUUUUUUUUUU. Godamnit that's a WOW set...Seriously? Cmon....Sigh..

Thats why I'm playing a WD. Seriously though. Thats pretty fucked up how little creativity that set has. It mimics so much from wow sets. They could at least TRY to do something different. Damn.

Ya..But that monk one is the worst. Even the symmetry of wow suites followed over. They didn't even fucking try. Jesus.

I hate to say this but yeah what is up with some of the gear designs of blizzard lately. And I'm not even talking about comparisons of d3 to wow or sc2, I'm talking in general. Of course not everything but for a developer with such good artists and genius minds, why some of it are not extended to gear designs. Then again these armor are not designed for close up view but still.
You know what they should steal the gear design artist from Vindictus
edit: the funny thing though is when these armors are translated to artwork, they look awesome.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
I think the higher tiers are OK, I prefer the mid tier look of these options, but previous higher tier sets we have seen also look better. So I think its just the specific sets they chose to reveal. My dislike comes from the high shine of the sets, but the images are not great either so I'd bet that they look much better natively (you can tell that these images have a lot of excess light on them making everything look significantly brighter/whiter.)

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
well its clear that the developers from WoW were all put on d3. Lets just hope they have the *show helm* option in the interface options menu too. With that option plus the armor dyes i dont think the gear will be bad....I mean its a upgrade from d2, isn't it?
Ya..But that monk one is the worst. Even the symmetry of wow suites followed over. They didn't even fucking try. Jesus.
Firstly: WoW sets have horrible detail, secondly: All the sets in WoW are modeled after the human male/female body, so the other races gets the human sets adjusted to match their body.
The third monk set has more detail than any WoW set I've ever seen.
Ya..But that monk one is the worst. Even the symmetry of wow suites followed over. They didn't even fucking try. Jesus.
I'd reserve judgement until you can see something that's not off screen and in a garbage resolution, but that's just me.
I like the sets, the first one is awful, but I love the third one, and to be honest I don't see a link to WoW at all, but I guess thats what people do on this forum, complain that something is too similar to WoW.

Don't ask me why the WoW argument still comes up. They in no way are the same thing. These armors are clad in steel which most wow armors really don't have its all just bulk and colors. And as was said before, these have way more detail. What do you people want? Black, white, and brown?
Yes but the reason those sets had a dark and medieval flare to them was because of design limitations I think, those games were pretty low polygon count and couldn't handle elaborate armors.
As for people who bash WoW, its the same shit that they do on every forum for every game, can't make a valid argument, let's bring WoW into it and mock it and everything it has to do with anything, than chastise the producers of the other game for being lazy and "copying" things from wow.
By that logic no game should have:
Humans
Swords
Armor
Hair
Sky
Water
Shields
Dragons
Undead
and items.
Blizzard totally is just being lazy by putting humans in this game, its ridiculous. WE ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH HUMANS IN WOW BLIZZ THANKS. This is all activison's fault, they ruined Blizzard by having no say in their development yet apparently they do GOSH.
Anyways as for WC 2 and 3 being "Colorful" its because most the game is outdoor, when most diablo 2 (all of diablo 1 is under ground) is under ground. Comparing armor designs in WC3 to WoW is still just as bad as comparing D2 to WoW.
It just gets old when people compare wow to D3. They are 2 different games. D3 is going to be different from D1 and D2, it's called progression, if you don't like it, go crawl back into your hole and play D2. This isn't Diablo 2 - 2, it Diablo 3.
I really just want to say that... somewhere between diablo 2 and diablo 3, the art style had changed. It's as if there's something missing in the DNA of the design for Diablo 3.
Honestly, this is EXACTLY what I think happened:
You've got an art team that's been working tirelessly on a single ip for probably a decade now and NOW they are telling you to design yet ANOTHER fantasy game. You think some of that artistic influence from WoW wouldn't be apparent in Diablo 3 when the last thing their artists have been working on non-stop has mostly been WoW?
I wouldn't say that WoW's art style has been a direct translation to Diablo 3, but you CAN see its influence.
I'm actually quite surprised that a LOT of what I've seen according to armor and item design has been highly ornamental pieces.
I'd LOVE to see an inferno set of items for the Monk that makes him look like he has just some really badass weathered cloth garments with some kind of wrappings around his fists. It would help me believe that my monk is actually very naturally capable of taking a hit because it really IS his body that he's trained to being so rock hard.

Listen to the latest podcast they make a really good argument for why the sets and the whole style of D3 looks the way it does. And also, what, do you want you character to look like its still wearing T2 armor from normal? There are so many armor sets that need to be made to look distinct that the whining that its all not just black/spikey/covered in spines doesn't work, unless you want zero difference and flavor.

I agree, but remember my friend....armor dyes....
Put some black, grey, or white on there, and then it looks better.
The DH is the worst one... Looks too armored =/

I know right...but what bothers me the most are the inferno weapons. They look too cartoonish...or should I say WoWish.
This ^. It's not a Wow set either.
