Hi im curently wondering wich gems i should be using on my seasonal hc monk. I've cleared a Grift 48 but im wondering if i should swap my gems around before i enter the 50's.
I'm curently running with this setup
Molten wildebeast Gizzard
Esoteric Alteration
Gogok of Swiftness
However ive been looking at the Mutilation Guard thinking of swaping it in instead of the wildebeast.
My flying dragon is shit as fuck, its rolled with 7% dmg, Dex and Spirit Regen... Atleast its ancient... I had to obviously roll the Spirit regen off and make it Vitality, now i could roll that into Life per hit if im dropping the Wildebeast and just make up that 1k vit somewhere else.
Thank you for the answer. With the rolls i have i'd still be sitting at around 30k HP regen pr sec out of combat. + with recent news CDR is quite good for the epiphany so the GoGok is very powerfull. I'll do some testing So far im liking the Mutilation guard and my natural Life Regen is healing me quite nice out of combat and the LoH from the Flying D is awesome.
Heya, gems are a questionable topic when it comes to hc.
I don't think you can go without the trapped or esoteric So that leaves a few options for the final. Gogok is a good choice as it gives dps via as and toughness via cdr. Molten is good for safety while learning but I think gogok outweighs it as you move to higher rifts.
taeguk is also an option. It's somewhat personal preference but I would def use trapped and esoteric
I would just like to point out that the CDR from Goguk is severely diminished by the CDR you already have on your gear.
I run anywhere from 48-58% CDR. At this point the Goguk is only adding 6-8% CDR on top of what you already have. The only major benefit to you would be if that it is the tipping point on perma-epiphany(dual wield build) or the 15% attack speed is what you are looking for.
The 15% attack speed is what you will notice most as you should not be stacking it on your gear. Attack speed affects your healing, damage, and spirit regen(more damage).
The Gizzard suffers from the same problem of diminishing returns once you get a double healing flying dragon. The gem goes from being 1/2 or 1/3 your healing to 1/5 or less. At this point you are fishing for Stonesinger's and a Mutilation Guard will be what you most likely need.
I also like arcstarx's Idea of the Taeguk. The only problem being that if you drop stacks vs the rift guardian you my not be able to finish the rift, well alive anyways. The rift will still end.
indeed, ive been testing the mutilation guard / Esoteric / GoGok and im liking it alot, missing out on the bane of the trapped is alot of damage but im still able to finish a very shitty grift 48 without it and 5 mins left np.
Hey pani, glad that setup is working well for you. When you become a bit more comfortable with this build, I would suggest swapping out the mutilation guard for the bane of the trapped, you will be severely behind on damage and will have a very difficult time with meeting the timers.

Any thoughts?
I would have to say the Flying dragon will benefit more from the life per hit affix rather than vitality.
I would also suggest dropping Gogok for Bane of the Trapped. BotT is strongest in slot for almost every build in the book. Too strong to leave out.
You will have a hard time getting rid of the Gizzard as it is the only way to recover health out of battle.
This is all assuming you are running the dashing strike build.

Oh and you most definitely want to roll LoH onto that FD, you can get high vit elsewhere.
