Ok so I don't know if I'm doing something massively wrong here, but I wanted to check to make sure. I'm playing on the console, and I've gotten to the point where I have a backlog of marquise and imperial gems that I need to combine, but I am constantly scraping for funds to do so. The quickest way I've found to gather money is by just doing bounties and then selling all the loot rather than salvaging. This tends to net me maybe 1mil gold per hour, which is good for what, 3ish gem combos? Now maybe I'm just a moron and I'm missing something obvious, but is this really the fastest I'm able to get money? If it is, it's going to take me forever to get any kind of high level gem. Any helpful advice is appreciated!
Haven't reached the GRifts yet. I've been doing NRifts for a while but haven't had any luck getting the pieces I need to access GRifts. No Boon of the Hoarder yet either, is there a simple way to get it?
doing rifts, killing goblins. rare goblins open a vault when you kill them, after killing boss in there, you get the boon of the hoarder gem. just youtube search it. Or google/youtube search like "make gold ros d3"

You get all legendary gems in Grifts, you should be grinding regular rifts for keys, and should get 1 key every 5 rifts on T1 roughly. Most toons are innately strong enough to run T2-3 as soon as they hit 70 with good yellow gear. I would up the difficulty and grind out T2 and T3 until you have a legendary item in each slot, always working for your preferred set pieces. In this process gold will come, progress will occur, GRifts will fall, and you can get and level your legendary gems.
Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm not always quick on the uptake so you made it dummy-proof for me! I guess it just seems to take longer than it really does because I can only play 1-2 hours a day.
Boon of the Horder also drops from Grift. I found my Boon in a Grift in Season 2.
So easiest way is to farm T1+ for Trial Keys and then start Grift lvl 1. And ALWAYS finish Grift with 4 minutes or less for +1lvl Grift Key.
So clear a Grift an wait until 4 minutes left, do bounties for the waiting time.
This is the right way to do it for starter chars. It will give you all gems (and they are strong, even level 0, if you are stuck on T1), including Boon of the Hoarder. You often also get 1-4 legendaries, sometimes more. So it's an easy way to gear up, clearing higher level, getting trials keys faster, getting more gold, more xp, ...
And during the wait time (less than 4 min left to complete the rift, anything more will make you jump more than 1 level) you get normal riftkeys from bounties, some xp and gold, maybe that RORG (I would only do act 1 and remake game when those are done), and maybe even some achievement points in case you care
Happy farming.
PS: If you are low on gold and mats, don't enchant yellow or bad legendaries, upgrades come fast in the above way.
Good extra tips, thanks. I've still been unable to get my first GRift key despite playing T3 for two days straight, but maybe I'll have better luck by farming T1 at a faster rate rather than plugging away more slowly in T3
Oh lord please tell me I'm not totally screwed and will never get GRift keys...
I'm on the PS3
EDIT: FUUUUUUUUUU I just saw a forum post stating GRifts will never come to PS3. Thanks a lot Blizzard, I now have no motivation to continue playing. (Not that that's anyone's fault but mine, just sucks that i didn't figure it out earlier)
Patch 2.1 didn't get released on Xbox 360 and PS3 and that's why I didn't even bother buying RoS for my 360.
RoS is fun but without patch 2.1 and all the future patches it feels incomplete.
Too bad you had to find the hard way, if you have a half decent PC then get it on PC, patches are always rolling in, Seasons and more legendaries each patch.
The one saving grace is that I can continue grinding up my Paragon levels and then transfer to a PS4 version later when I eventually get one. I'll be undergeared, but I'll at least have something to catch up on. Thanks for the advice though y'all, mods can feel free to lock this thread if they want

PC player here. Do you have the Boon of the Horder gem on Console? That is by far the best way to make gold.

Not sure about the boon of the horder gem on console. But on PC you get tons of gold from completing greater rifts.

A Greater Rift Tier 32 will give you about 2 Million in less than 15 minutes as a reward for finishing.

That would be partially true and partially false depending on what console you are playing on as well as the version of Diablo 3 you have purchased.
